Bride of the Cursed Alpha (Auren and Lucien)

Rejected the alpha mate 220

Chapter 220

Chapter 220

Summer POV

The evening couldn’t come this late. I had to bear Laura’s whining the whole day. When she went for lunch, she ordered me not to follow her or come down for lunch, because I would mar her reputation. Stain her flawless personality. So I stayed in the room, and hunted for food in the mini–fridge. There were some nuts and coke. It would do. I was used to this all my life.

When Laura returned from lunch, her face was contorted with fury. “Who the hell do these bitches think I am?” she grumbled. “I am Costa Morelli’s daughter. And yet they take me so lightly?”

I rolled my eyes at her entitled behavior. She wanted to assert her position, society status and wealth over the wornen who didn’t belong to her world. Probably they were all rich like her, or richer. Who cared? They were all candidates in the Luna trials, and maybe they thought of her as an equal. Maybe not. I had gathered by now that Laura was the first human to take part in Luna trials, to be mated to a werewolf. It might sound strange to humans but it was something that I found… normal. Did I officially lose it?

“And those bitch organizers-“Laura snapped as she took her bracelet out and tossed it on the bed. “They didn’t treat me well. None of them made an effort to introduce me to others. All of them sat away from me, didn’t interact with me, and I felt like an outsider!”

I pursed my lips and didn’t offer her any advice. Because I knew if I did that, she would only get more irritated. Less irritated Laura was better than a more irritated one. She had no restraints when it came to lifting her hand on me.

She zipped her dress and dropped it on the floor. I collected it, folded it and put it in a different suitcase silently.

She continued complaining. “I have no idea why Alpha Bradley avoided me!” She glanced at me and narrowed her eyes. “Do you know him already? Why was he talking to you?”

I jerked my head up. “N–no,” I replied, heat rushing to my cheeks as I remembered him, and our interaction. How he looked at me with possessiveness. 1 don’t know him.”

“Do you even know who he is?”

“Yes, you said he is the heir of the Shadowfang pack.”

“He is the strongest and wealthiest Alpha of the North,” Laura informed me. “I’m hoping he choose me. So you better work in my favor, okay?”

“Yes,” I said immediately.

Laura became silent. She assessed me for a while and then flopped on the pillow. “This is going to be so frustrating if no one talks to me.”

I lowered my head and started collecting her jewelry. I knew that in situations like these when she doubted me and when most likely she was going to report it to her father, I better stay low and not provoke them. This was a survival instinct I had learnt the hard way. My father would hit me in his alcoholic and non–alcoholic rage all the time. If I argued with him, he would get provoked, and then there was no end to his slaps and kicks.

As I walked out, I heard her calling someone. “Daddy!” she whined.

“Pumpkin?” Morelli’s voice came over the speaker phone.

“No one talks to me here. I feel like I am so alone,” she pouted.noveldrama

“Doll,” Morelli said. “If you want others to speak with you, then you should be sweet to them. I hope you’re being sweet.

“I am,” she sighed. “But they don’t want to include me in their conversation.”

“In that case you should offer them something. You know, like a gift?” he suggested.

Laura snapped her gaze at me and removed the speaker. I walked out of her room quickly. She brought her phone to her ear. “Like what, daddy?she asked. She waited for a while to explain it to her. “Uh–huh, she said excitedly. “I have to be tactful about it!

Chapter 220

After a few minutes, she disconnected the call. Perhaps she had gone to sleep and that’s why the room became quiet. I, too, went off to sleep and researching the Internet, but woke up sharply at 4pm to ready Laura for the evening ball.

Laura discarded all the gowns I had laid for her, and went on to choose an electric blue gown with diamond and blue sapphire jewelry. She asked ker stylist not to bother her because she was capable of taking care of herself. By 7pm, she was all dressed up, and ready to go.

As she touched up her mascara, she glanced at me and said, “Be ready in case I have to call you.”

Why do you have to call me?” I asked.

“Just be ready, okay? And stop asking me questions. Moron!”

I sucked in a sharp breath at her blatant insult, but didn’t say anything. Survival was utmost. Plus I had to make sure that she didn’t suspect me. I was going to escape tonight. Even if it took me running through the wild–beasts infested forest.

Laura walked out of the room after giving me once over, like she had some plan for me already. The way she looked, a shudder ran down my spine. As soon as she left, the first thing I did was to dig out my backpack, threw my stuff and clothes inside. Got dressed in faded jeans and a full sleeves flannel shirt. I wore my sneakers and waited for another thirty minutes before coming out of the room. I was sure that in those thirty minutes, all the Luna candidates must have gathered in the lobby before going to the venue for the ball.

Slowly, I climbed down the stairs instead of taking the lift. There was no one in the lobby. I dashed to the place where they had arranged a buffet breakfast in the morning, hoping that there would be food. I needed to stash enough to last for at least a week. Thankfully, there was a large buffet waiting for me. I guess there were other guests as well who wouldn’t be attending the ball.

My stomach growled, and I realized how hungry I was. I put my backpack down near a table that was nearest to the buffet, and darted to fill a plate for myself. There was one server out there and he smiled at me, seeing how I piled my plate. Embarrassed, I just hurried away from there.

I sat at my table and gobbled as much as I could because one needed a full belly before escaping.

“You’re Summer, right?”

I looked to the side with my cheeks stuffed with bacon and nodded at a beautiful woman who seemed… familiar. Her blonde hair fell in waves down her back. She was dressed in a violet silk gown as if for the ball. She looked like… I racked my brain hard.

I nodded, still captivated by her beauty.

“How fun,” she said and sat down beside me.

Oh no, no, no, no. no.

I continued to chew my breakfast as I avoided her. This wasn’t an interaction I wanted. She could be a witness to my escape.

“Hey, slow down, she chuckled. “I’m not going to snatch your food.”

Ipursed my lips in a smile. But no. I had to hurry. The woman was still staring at me as I gulped down the mouthful of bacon.

“How can I help you?” I asked, dismissing her politely.

She tilted her head to the side as if assessing me. “I’m Tamara. So what did you do to piss off my brother in the morning?” she asked as she picked up a sausage from my tray. “May 1?”

I nodded, putting down my fork, not liking the way she was trying to be friendly to me. “I didn’t know that I had pissed off anyone,I repbrother? Besides, don’t you have to go for the ball?

Who is your

Tamara laughed softly as she chewed the sausage. “No, I have decided not to go for the ball. And my brother is Alpha Bradley. Do you remember him?

My mouth dropped. So the hottest guy in the resort was her brother? “Yes, I do remember him,” I replied, blushing.

My phone rang. I pulled it out of my back pocket and groaned.

“Where are you?” Laura raged.

“At the resort. Where else?”

“Come here fast. I am sending a car to fetch you!”

“W–why?” I asked, bewildered. This was going to delay my escape plan. “Did you spoil your gown? Should I bring another?”

“Don’t argue!” she grunted. “There’s a car coming to get you. Just hop in and be here.”

I gritted my teeth as Laura disconnected the call. Closing my eyes, I felt the anger simmering inside me. What if I didn’t go? I opened my eyes to see Tamara staring at me with a cocked eyebrow. She could tell Laura about my escape plan. Damn it.

“Are you okay?” she asked, leaning forward.

No. “Yes,” I said with a forced smile. “Laura has asked me to come to the ball.”

“Are you invited there?”

“No.”

“Then you shouldn’t go.”

I shook my head. “You don’t know Laura. If I don’t go-” I snapped my mouth. It was no use telling her anything. “Excuse me,” I muttered and left. I took my bag back to the room and returned to the lobby to wait for the car. It screeched right in front of the main door ten minutes later. Just as I was about to get inside, Tamara came.

“I’ll go with you,she said with a hint of a smile in her eyes. “I don’t have a ride.”
