Bride of the Cursed Alpha (Auren and Lucien)

Rejected the alpha mate 222

Chapter 222

Summer POV

I apologize for her behavior,” Laura said. “I don’t know what she is doing here.”

My mouth dropped open. “You called me here, Laura. What are you saying?”

“Shut up!” she hissed. “Stop lying! I didn’t ask you to come here.”

Laura grabbed my upper arm to drag me away, but she was blocked by three burly men. Alpha Bradley glared at her as he removed her hand from my upper arm in a way that she winced in pain. “You stop lying,” he grunted. Then he pulled me beside him to my utter surprise.

“Alpha Bradley,” Laura cried. “Why will I lie? She’s just a maid who wanted to come here. She’s a fucking gold digger. Can’t you see? No one other than those who were invited are here.” She glanced at me in disdain. “She is here to ruin my reputation, like she always does!”

“Enough!” Bradley hissed. “Summer was with my sister, Tamara, when you called her.”

Laura’s blood drained from her face. “I–I-”

“Tamara heard the conversation with you. So it’s not Summer who is lying. It is you who is lying. But-” Bradley stepped closer to her. Now I want to know why are you lying? What was your intention to bring Summer here? And then when she is here, why are you denying? Can you clarify? Because if this is how you will behave, then I’m sorry, I will have to ask you to leave. A manipulative woman like you is not fit to be anyone’s Luna.

I could feel tension in the air. People were looking at us with amusement. As if a drama was unfolding. I was sure that gossip was going to find its way through the crowd sooner than later. Though I became acutely aware of the situation, I actually liked the look on Laura’s face.

Laura looked like she could faint. She started shaking as her gaze darted at Tamara, me and then Bradley. Damon, on the other hand, slipped out of there. “Alpha Bradley, I–I–it–it was just that—”

Bradley put his hand up in the air to silence her. “I will have to talk to your father about it, for I do not tolerate such nonsense in my pack. This ball was for everyone to mingle. Not all in here are Luna candidates, so I don’t know why didn’t you let Summer accompany you.”

“That’s right,” Tamara added, crossing her arms across her chest. “We will have to reconsider her entry.”

“What?” Laura was on the verge of crying. She looked at me with so much hatred that I could wither under her gaze. “My father would never believe you. It will be my word against hers.” She pointed at me.

I couldn’t believe Laura. The entitled spoilt mafia princess could do anything to assert who her father was. Before her father harmed Alpha Bradley and his kind sister, I stepped in. “Alpha Bradley, I should be going. I’m sorry to have caused so much commotion. This is not an incident to be made a show out of.” With that I started to leave, but Bradley caught my wrist and pulled me back. “I apologize on Laura’s behalf. There was a misunderstanding.

“No Summer,” he said as I shivered in his grasp. Electricity shot up my arm and zipped all the way between my thighs. Heat crept on my – eks, and 1 stifled a gasp. He looked at me with his stormy gray eyes. “This has gone beyond any resolution, and it won’t settle so easily.”

“Then what are you going to do?” I asked exasperatedly.

“See? I told you, she is at fault,” Laura insisted. I swear I felt like slapping her.noveldrama

Ignoring her words, Bradley stated, “Please come to the antechamber. All of you. I would like to discuss this privately. Then without leaving my wrist, he pulled me to a small room behind the ballroom as Tamara, Laura, and a few of his men followed us. As soon as we were in the room, the door was closed.

The room was small, but plush. A green carpet sat in the middle of the wooden floor with luxurious sofas and a center table. Alpha Bradley sat on the couch and tugged me to sit beside him. I was getting flustered by his behavior. Was he trying to get clingy? As Tamara and Laura sat down, the men continued to stand as if protecting him.

Bradley threw his arm behind me and crossed his legs at the knee. I think he leaned toward me and… did he just inhale my scent? Feeling a thousand shades awkward, I shrank and tried to shift away, but he placed his hand on my shoulder, stopping my movement. Gods above. What was wrong with

this man?

Laura was nervous. “I think there is a solid misunderstanding, Alpha Bradley,” she started.

No, there isn’t.” He pulled his phone out and dialed Morelli’s number.

Oh. My. God.

“I’m just a maid, Alpha Bradley,” I said in a low voice, feeling scared now. “Please, you don’t have to speak with Mr. Morelli.” I was sure that the mafia boss would find a way to kill me.”

Bradley POV

It was Damon written all over. Heir of the Crimson Howl pack. Alpha Josh and Maris’s son.

When Tamara came to know that Summer was here, she made it her mission to ensure that Summer became my Luna. The only problem was that she was Laura’s maid. And Laura was the daughter of a notorious mafia boss, Morelli. Though I knew that he could do nothing to me, and I could bring him to his knees if he tried to fight against me. However, the problem didn’t end there. The humans wanted to interact with the werewolves in the new emerging economy. If I sent away Laura, which was I so fucking wanting to, it could have serious repercussions. So, I had to be tactful. Tactful enough to get my Summer out of his claws, and also make an example of this whole event.

Laura, like a spoiled bitch, wanted people to come to her and talk to her, treat her like a queen. But that wasn’t happening here. No one gave her attention. Her purpose was getting defeated. So she used the only thing she could. She offered Summer to Damon. It was Damon’s car that had gone to fetch Summer. He would have taken her to an unknown location and raped her repeatedly, and Laura would’ve been okay with it as long as he helped her with Luna trials. It was their dirty little pact, which wasn’t hard to unravel.

Tamara wanted to spend time with Summer, to get to know her better, and to make sure that she was well–protected. But she noticed that Summer was leaving. Like about to flee. So she sat down with her and talked to her, while she contacted me through our mind link, explaining the situation. Panic surged through me. I had to stop Summer from slipping from my hands again. As was contemplating on going to her, Tamara connected with me again, saying that Laura had called her to the ball.

It was a red flag when the car Laura sent for Summer smelled of Damon. Laura ensured that she was with Summer all the time to protect her. I also sent my warriors to protect both my sister and my mate. The driver of the car had no chance. Tammy told me how surprised he was initially to see her with Summer, but he was too afraid to argue.

I was furious as hell. My wolf snarled beneath the surface, his claws itching to rip apart Damon. Rage pulsed through my veins like wildfire. He paced, beneath my skin, making my muscles coil tightly. My beast roared for blood, ready to tear down the world if anyone harmed Summer.

Only when I saw Summer entering the ballroom, and only when she was near me, did he calm down. It took everything inside me not to touch her, feel her, smell her, and take her away.

‘Rut her. Mark her. Claim her.‘

My beast demanded. He wanted to roll in her scent. Make sure everyone knew who she belonged to.

‘I will.‘

And then Laura lied. She didn’t know what she had done.

I took them all to the small antechamber behind the ballroom. Summer wanted to go away, take the blame on her. She was so weak, so timid, and scared. But I wouldn’t allow her to do that. She wanted to get away from me, but I stopped her by placing my hand on her shoulder. No baby. There was no escaping from me now.

Morelli picked up the phone on third ring. “Morell.”

“Good evening, Mr. Morelli. This is Bradley from/Shadowfang pack. Did you receive the money sent you?”
