Chapter 1190
Debra asked, "So, it's all just a title with no real power?"
"Melody Nichols handed over 10% of her shares to Theda. Theda got the full backing of the shareholders. How can you say she has no real power?" Andrew replied, looking at Marion. "Marion was hurt just at the right time."
Debra fell silent. She had always thought Robert was just a brute with no brains. Now it looked like he had injured Marion on purpose to delay their return. That bought time for Theda to convince those shareholders.
Thankfully, Theda's position was not solid yet.
Andrew added, "Theda is vengeful, just like you. She's going to go head-to-head with you."
In just a year, the McKinney Group had broken the Nichols Group's monopoly. The two companies were now going neck and neck. To reassure the shareholders, Theda would have to spare no effort to deal with Debra.
"I need to speak to you privately," Marion suddenly chimed in.
Debra looked over and saw his cold determination.
"Well, remember to take care of that little trouble," Andrew said, turning to Barton. "See Mrs. Houston out."
After Debra left, the air in the room grew tense.
Marion broke the silence. "I took every precaution to deal with Juan, but I didn't guard against you."
Andrew poured himself a cup of tea. "I haven't done anything."
Marion didn't respond, but the tension between them was almost palpable.
A year ago when he had just
returned to Seamar City, Marion met Debra at an auction. He shouldn't have gone that night, but Andrew had told him there was a good show happening.
Back then, he thought his meeting with Debra was a coincidence. Now he felt it was all planned.
Andrew took a sip of tea and said leisurely, "Don't overthink it. I gave Debra those gifts just out of respect for her parents. Besides, she grew up under my eyes. To me, she's like a sister."
"I'm not blind," Marion said, his words making Andrew freeze. "Do you want her to be with me,noveldrama
you want me to leave her?t
Andrew chuckled, "You know my condition. I won't be around much longer anyway."
"I'm not sure about that. Why should I give her up to you?" Marion said, standing up to leave.
He had come just for an answer. Now that he had it, there was one more person he needed to watch out for.
Andrew continued to drink his tea. Oddly enough, it tasted much more bitter than usual.
What do you think?
