Goodbye, Mr. Regret

Chapter 539

There were still twelve hours to go before Vince would return.noveldrama

Thanks to his advance arrangements, he could at least help Vince save some time.

He'd come all the way to the Zimmerman family's house because Naylor had called him, saying that Larkin had thrown a fit there the night before.

He'd intended to talk things over with Larkin, but hadn't expected to walk straight into this mess.

Now, it seemed like every member of the Zimmerman family would be coming back.

Timothy really was trying to find a way to bring Jessica home, but this wasn't how he'd wanted it to happen.

She'd only just returned, and if something else happened to her grandfather, it would break her heart.

A sudden stroke was dangerous-especially for someone Larkin's age. There would surely be some lingering effects, but if the right doctors treated him quickly, he could recover and live a normal life.

The housekeeper was keeping watch by Larkin's hospital room when his phone suddenly rang. Stepping out to answer, he caught sight of Timothy standing near the operating room doors.

A maid reported that Daisy had come down with a high fever.

But someone had to stay with the old man, so the housekeeper told the maid to call the driver and bring Daisy to the hospital.

Timothy overheard the entire conversation.

When the housekeeper hung up, Timothy asked, "Daisy's sick?"

The man's brow furrowed. Today was nothing but chaos.

With Timothy here, the housekeeper now had his hands full on both sides. If Timothy kept interfering, it would be hard to explain later.

"Mr. Lawson, shouldn't you be at your company? Doesn't Lawson Group need you to look after things? If you stay here all day, Mr. Zimmerman is bound to be upset when he gets back."

His wife was on the verge of collapse-what business did he have at the company?

The Zimmerman family's problems were his problems too.

Timothy knew the housekeeper's words were barbed, but he let it go.

This was his reckoning.

He deserved it.

"If my brother-in-law has an issue, he can tell me himself. You don't need to worry about it," Timothy replied.

Not long after, Daisy was brought to the hospital by the maid.

As soon as Timothy saw her, he hurried over.

The little girl was burning up, delirious, and kept calling for her mom and dad. Seeing her like that made Timothy's heart ache. He turned to the maid. "Let me hold her. I'm her godfather."

The maid hesitated, and even the housekeeper tried to stop him.

But Daisy, eyes dull from fever, looked up and whispered, "Mr. Lawson."

She reached out her arms, wanting Timothy to hold her.

Without waiting for permission, Timothy gently took Daisy from the maid's arms.

He was about the same age as her father, and as soon as he held her, Daisy burrowed closer into his arms.

After the doctor's examination, it turned out not to be serious-just a fever that needed medication and cooling treatments.

Timothy had taken care of Henry through a fever before, so he knew what to expect. The nights were always the hardest, with the fever likely to spike again.

When it was time for Daisy's injection, she was terrified, but Timothy soothed her. The

housekeeper noticed that Timothy was even more attentive than the staff and decided not to interfere further.

The maid had other duties to attend to, and with the entire Zimmerman family returning, there was even more to do. The housekeeper sent her back home.

Jessica and her family landed and went straight to the hospital.

It was past 3 a.m. by the time they arrived, and they all hurried to Larkin's hospital

room.

The housekeeper assured them that Larkin was stable. Earlier that evening, several leading cardiologists had come for a

Everyone in the Zimmerman family breathed a sigh of relief.

The housekeeper decided to be upfront. "Those cardiologists were all brought in by Mr. Lawson. He's still in Daisy's room—she came
