Chapter 298
Rowan arrived just as the workday was ending to treat Hayderi. At 7:00 p.m., Lily went downstairs with Hayden to meet him.
Across the street, Rowan was sitting on the curb, holding a pancake, with a food stall selling the same nearby.
"Dr. Blackwood, haven't you eaten yet?" Lily asked sincerely. "Next time, I'll prepare dinner for you."
She had just finished eating with Hayden.
Rowan grinned, looking a bit apologetic. "I forgot my phone. Please help me pay for this."
The food stall owner had been watching Rowan closely, worried he might leave without paying
Lily quickly took out her phone to scan the payment code. Only then did Rowan stroll confidently into the neighborhood with her.
"When you brought Hayden back that day, did he react during the ride?" he asked.
"No. He was sitting in the back." She shook her head.
Since Hayden's condition was caused by the car accident, she was worried that he might develop a fear of cars. That was why she had deliberately arranged for him to sit in the back and had paid close attention to his reactions during the ride. Rowan finished the last bite of his pancake, threw the wrapper into the trash, and pointed to the conspicuous Maybach parked in the otherwise ordinary neighborhood.
"Get in and have him sit in the front."
Zoing somewhere?"
Lily paused, confused, looking at him. "Are we going
The final stage of treatment is stimulation therapy, and the entire procedure will be done in the car," he said, standing by the vehicle. "Do you have the car keys?" "No." She Instinctively touched her pocket and quickly added, "I'll go get them."
Rowan nodded, signaling her. "You go up. I'll stay with him."
Lily guided Hayden to Rowan's side. "Wait here for me. Dr. Blackwood will be with you. I'll be back soon,"
At that, she quickly ran into the building and returned in less than five minutes.
Rowan took the wheel, placing Hayden in the front seat while Lily sat in the back. The car slowly drove out of the neighborhood and onto the wide, empty roads of the suburbs.
Once they were on a broader road, he gradually increased the speed, the car pushing forward with a strong sense of acceleration.
Lily gripped the front seat tightly, observing every subtle movement of Hayden.
At first, he showed no reaction, but soon, his hands, which were resting on his lap, gripped the seat tightly. His face tensed, and he seemed to be in a state of anxiety. Fleeting, fragmented images flashed in his mind, too fast for him to capture, but a sense of panic slowly began to rise within him.
That surge of emotion enveloped him completely, his breathing gradually growing rapidly, and his eyes filled with helplessness.
Lily reached out, grabbing his hand, which was gripping the chair tightly, but she didn't know what to say. His hand was tense and so stiff that she couldn't even loosen his grip. It wasn't until Rowan turned the car around and sped back toward the residential area, slowing down once they entered the busy district, that Hayden's state began to ease. "It's over," Rowan said as he stopped in front of the community. "Today's treatment is done."
"Just like that?" Lily asked in disbelief. "He showed some reactions just now."
Rowan unbuckled his seatbelt and looked at Hayden. "A reaction is a good sign. If there had been no reaction at all, it would mean this therapy isn't working for him."noveldrama
She didn't know what to make of this treatment but could only follow his lead. "So when is the next session?"
"Three days from now." Rowan checked his phone, scrolling through the schedule. "From now on, treatment will be every three days. At most, there will be five sessions to determine the outcome. We aim to finish before the new year." "How confident are you?" Lily's heart was in her throat.
What do you think?
