Just then, the man's throat moved as a raspy voice sounded from his lips. "I'm

going to keep hiding in his body! I'd like to see what you're going to do to me, ha! You're going to have to kill him first if you want to kill me!"

"You!"

Wilbur stared at the middle-aged man helplessly. At the same time, the other villagers realized something weird about the man and scrambled to get away from him.

The man returned to his senses, looking around frantically. "W-What's going on here? Why... Why are you looking at me like that?"

He grabbed Wilbur by the hand. "What's going on, young man? Can you please tell me what's happening?"

"The Night Demon's hiding in your body right now, sir," said Wilbur. "We need to find a way to force him out."

"What?" The man looked terrified. "The Night Demon's hiding... in my body? How... How can this be? No, I can't have this! I can't be the reason everyone goes down!"

The man turned to walk out, and one of the villagers shouted, "That's right, Frank Sonner! Get the f*ck out of our village!"

"You can very well die on your own, Frank! We're not going down with you!"

"Oh, Frank. No one wanted to marry you when you were younger, and you're still all alone in your forties! You're as good as dead, come on! We'd be screwed if you bring us down with you. Just accept your fate!"noveldrama

The voices grew, cursing Frank out and yelling at him to get out of their village. Wilbur whipped around to glare at the villagers, shouting, "How can you say that? Have you no remorse?"

"You saw it for yourself. It's his own fault that the Night Demon possessed him! It started with Pen's family when her idiot son got possessed first! That bastard child has killed his entire family, only for Frank to get possessed next! God, is he going to get the rest of our village killed too?"

"We don't have a choice. Do you understand?"

"That's right, we can't risk going soft! That Night Demon's a monster, the whole village is screwed if we give him a chance!"

"Frank Sonner might be a good man, but maybe this is just his fate..."

Wilbur was furious at how cruel the villagers were being, his chest heaving up and down with rage. Just then, however, Frank spoke up from behind him calmly, "It's alright, buddy. I don't blame them. It's not anyone's fault the Night Demon possessed me. Maybe they're right, you know? This is just my fate."

Frank turned to leave, and Wilbur watched him as the villagers' voices rang from behind.

"That Frank, his poor parents worried so much for him when he was younger."

"And he was a good son, too! So what, though? Still didn't get him a wife in the end..."

"The way I see it, his parents are to blame for this."

"He worked so hard, going out to fish at sea every day... but that still couldn't get him a wife. Yes, maybe it's just his fate!"
