Chapter 101
Chapter 101:
Slap!
Miranda felt her vision dim and then, a clear, loud sound rang out right after. Before she knew it, her head had been pushed to the side. It was only when she felt a hot, stabbing pain that she realized someone had hit her.
She turned around abruptly to see Nora standing in front of her. Nora looked at her nonchalantly with her feline eyes and said, “Aunt Melissa doesn’t hit you because she’s a cultured lady.”
Then, she raised her eyebrows provocatively and said coldly, “However, I’m a wild child with a bad temper, so I can’t stand anyone behaving wildly in front of me.”
“…”
Her attitude intimidated Miranda. The young woman looked thin and weak, her fingers thin and slender, but there was a lot of strength in the slap she gave her. To the point that it seemed to her that she was still seeing stars.
Miranda stepped back and put distance between Nora and herself. She held her cheek with her hand and glared angrily at Melissa as she shouted, “Melissa! Are you going to watch her get violent with her elders? Make her apologize! Otherwise, I’ll never leave this matter alone!”
Melissa’s cheek was still hurting fiercely.
She was a cultured person.
She had never liked to get violent so crudely whenever she encountered a problem, and she hated arguing with uneducated people even more. The way Miranda always behaved like a harpy on the street was what puzzled her the most.
Besides, she was family, so she didn’t want to make things too ugly. That’s why she had let herself be bullied and suppressed for so many years.
But the moment Nora hit Miranda, she finally experienced the joy of revenge, especially seeing how Miranda didn’t dare say anything even though she was so furious. Melissa sketched a wry smile with reddened eyes. Then, she straightened her back, looked calmly at Miranda, and replied aggressively, “In that case, shouldn’t you apologize to me first?”
Miranda, who had been speechless, stomped her foot angrily after a brief moment. She pointed at Melissa and angrily ranting, “I came here with good intentions to convince you to invest in real estate, and instead you hit on me. I’m going to tell Farrell about this again right now, so he knows what kind of person you are!”.
Miranda left immediately after saying that.
A sarcastic smile appeared on Melissa’s countenance as she looked at her from behind.
Back then, she was known for being kind and intellectual and not a wimp.
She had been so tolerant of Miranda all these years just because she was her sister-in-law, while Melissa herself was just a daughter of the Woods who had married into another family. She didn’t want to put her older brother on the spot, so she hadn’t said anything.
She hadn’t expected that Miranda would now consider her such a wimp that she would even dare to hit her.
Melissa looked down.
Beside her, Nora, who could tell that Melissa looked rather unhappy, couldn’t help but rub her chin.
Although she wasn’t afraid of the Woods, they were still her aunt’s family, after all. Besides, her aunt’s older brother wasn’t a bad person either. If they really got into a fight, Aunt Melissa would be sad, wouldn’t she?
The thought had just formed when Melissa suddenly raised her head and said, “It’s time to get some things straightened out.”
Melissa clenched her fists and said to the chauffeur, “Get the car ready. I’m going to talk to Farrell.”
Nora was speechless.
Why did she suddenly feel like her aunt had turned into a bitch? Cough. Although she certainly looked cute like that.
With that in mind, Nora left the Andersons.
Melissa didn’t like the jeep, so Nora was the only one driving it now.
She drove to the hotel where the restaurant Justin had made a reservation at was located.

Justin was sitting in the private lounge. As he adjusted his tie, he looked at Sean and in a deep voice slowly asked, “You know what to say next, right?”.
Sean replied, “…. Yes, I have made a note of it, Mr. Hunt.”
Apparently, as it was also the first time he had ever done anything like this, Justin readjusted his tie in an attempt to disguise his discomfort. He looked back at Sean and said, “Practice your lines a bit.”
“…”
Sean was silent for a moment.
Justin shot him a scornful look.
If it had been Lawrence in his place, he would have known immediately what to do without him having to explain. Sean was simply too reticent.
Sensing his boss’s disdain, Sean coughed and said, “I’m ready, Mr. Hunt.”
Justin nodded and asked dispassionately, “What’s Pete doing?”
Sean straightened his back and replied methodically, “Tomorrow is his birthday, so he’s making a handmade card for you right now. He intends to give it to you as a birthday present, so he’s refusing to come to dinner.”
A dissatisfied Justin commented, “Sounds too fake.”
Sean, “…”
Surely her boss was going out of his way to let Miss Smith know that the next day was her birthday!
But if she really cared about him, how was it possible that she didn’t know? As the man in charge of the Hunt Corporation, all his relevant information could be found on Wikipedia!
In the middle of their conversation, the voice of the service staff suddenly came from the door. “Miss Smith, this is the private room.”
Justin immediately sat up and cast a barely perceptible glance at the door. At the same moment Nora entered, he coughed, looked at Sean, and asked, “What’s Pete doing?”
Nora entered the room the moment he said that. Apparently, after hearing her question, she also looked at Sean with interest.
A stern looking Sean replied with a straight face, “Tomorrow is your birthday, Mr. Hunt, so right now he is making a handmade card for you. He intends to give it to you as a birthday present, so he’s refusing to come to dinner.”
Justin nodded coolly at Sean and said, “I see.”
Then he gave Nora a wry look and said, “The child is too spoiled.”
Nora took a seat across from him. Although she was a little disappointed that she wouldn’t get to see her son again, the exchange caught her attention. She asked, “Is it your birthday tomorrow?”
Justin did his best to stifle the corners of his lips and maintain a serious expression. He looked at her with his deep, bottomless eyes and replied in a low, soft voice, “Yes.”
Nora leaned her elbows on the table and rested her chin on her hands. Her face was very small, and her feline eyes, which always seemed so lazy and careless, sparkled with interest as she asked, “Does Pete make you presents for your birthday?”
She was terribly interested in how her son had spent the last five years.
She wanted to know what her son did while she was gone.
For example, how he had grown up and how he had come into Justin’s hands?
Justin nodded. “Yes, he gives me a gift every year.”
He emphasized the word ‘gift’.
Nora, however, felt a little jealous.
That stinky Cherry had never given her any gifts. Every year, on her birthday, all she did was give her a lot of compliments. She found herself really envious of Justin at this point.
As expected, her son was actually more affectionate.
Nora looked at Justin with hostility and clicked her tongue. Then she suddenly asked, “May I attend Mr. Hunt’s birthday party?”
Justin replied, “Of course.”
Nora blinked and said, “I’m very curious about the card Pete is making for him – can I take a look at it?”
Justin, “¿?”
Beside her, Sean did his best to stifle laughter as he looked at his boss.
Pete had been mildly autistic since he was a baby. When had he ever given his boss a birthday present?
However, Justin replied without changing his expression, “Of course. You can come with your daughter, Miss Smith.”
Go together?
Nora’s eyes twinkled as she replied, “Sure.”
She wondered if Justin would like her to give Cherry as a birthday present.
