Nora

Chapter 102

Chapter 102:.

The wait staff soon began serving the food.

Although they were in an Italian restaurant, the food was surprisingly served to them on small plates like the other time. The sight of the numerous little plates of food on the table made Nora’s eyes twitch again and again.

What on earth was this?

The bored young woman held her fork reluctantly and tasted bite after bite.

In front of her, the corners of Justin’s lips slowly curved into a smile. He said, “Miss Smith, you should chew your food well and eat slowly. It’s not good for your health if you eat too fast.”

“…”noveldrama

Still, it sure wasn’t possible to eat that slowly either, was it?

Some of the dishes only had two cucumber strips on them…

Nora suspected Justin was doing it on purpose. After all, when she was on her way here, all the diners in the lobby had been using full-size plates.

She twirled the piece of pasta in the bowl with her fork and put it in her mouth nonchalantly.

Seeing how bored she was, Justin tried to find something to talk about. He asked, “How did you know real estate wasn’t going to do very well in the future, Miss Smith?”

Nora swallowed her pasta and grabbed a piece of vegetable from the salad bowl. Only then did she reply, “Wasn’t it you who told me that, Mr. Hunt?”

Justin raised his eyebrows. Then he heard her continue. “I heard that the Lowes approached the Hunts first, but the Hunts declined the offer.”

Justin let out a low chuckle and replied, “But the outsiders also say I was only in a bad mood because of my son.”

Nora blinked. She leaned on the table with one arm and lazily brought the vegetable to her mouth with her other hand. “Well, if Mr. Hunt were the type to do business according to his mood, the Hunt Corporation wouldn’t be what it is today. He’s always had a good eye for business.”

“…”

Justin had almost grown up with praise for him. Everyone hailed him as a business genius, but he had never cared what they said.

But when the woman said flippantly that he’d always had a good eye for business, he found himself in a very good mood.

He took the glass of apple juice beside him without much thought and took a sip to disguise his smile, but when he looked up again, he saw that Nora was staring at him in astonishment. She said, “That’s my juice you’re drinking, Mr. Hunt.”

Justin, “!”

His gaze fell on the glass of juice. There seemed to be traces of the warmth of the woman’s lips on the rim of the glass, which made him feel that his lips had warmed a little.

However, he pretended to be calm and set the glass down. Then he immediately said, “Oh, I’m sorry, I’ve got the wrong glass.”

Nora couldn’t help but be amazed when she noticed that his earlobes seemed to have turned a little red.

She couldn’t imagine that the dignified leader of the number one family as well as the relentless and decisive Eagle of the Imperial League would have moments when he looked shy and innocent.

In particular, when he innocently looked down with his seemingly bottomless eyes, even the beauty mark at the corner of his eye seemed to exude a seductive aura that screamed ‘Please adopt me’…. In fact, it made her lick her lips for some inexplicable reason.

The atmosphere suddenly became quite romantic, and even the air seemed to have become somewhat thick and viscous.

After dinner, the two of them drove together to the parking lot.

As they walked past the main room of the restaurant, Nora suddenly felt a probing look. Her head swiveled to the side, but what came into her view was instead a lush green curtain of devil’s ivy that prevented her from seeing beyond it.

As the plants swayed, behind the dappled light coming through the gaps, he thought he saw a man in a white suit sitting quietly and looking at the menu.

It seemed like the whole thing was an illusion.

Nora’s eyebrows furrowed. For some reason, she suddenly shivered.

She repressed the feeling and followed Justin out into the parking lot.

Before they parted, Nora asked, “Where is your birthday party tomorrow, Mr. Hunt?”

Justin gave her an address. It was where he and Pete were currently staying.

Nora nodded. “I’ll be there tomorrow at noon.”

Justin nodded as well. “See you then.”

Justin continued to stand where he was even after Nora started the car and drove off.

Sean couldn’t help but ask, “What if Miss Smith doesn’t bring a gift, Mr. Hunt?”

Justin looked at him coldly and replied confidently, “That’s impossible.”

Why wouldn’t she bring one if she liked him so much?

He did, however, want to see the birthday card Pete had made him…. Justin got into the car and said, “Let’s go home.”

When he got back to the villa, Pete was practicing his martial arts after dinner.

Justin stood in front of him and said haughtily, “Tomorrow is my birthday.”

Pete raised his head. His expressionless face was like a miniature version of Justin. He said, “… Oh.”

The corners of Justin’s lips gave a little twitch and his expression darkened. “That’s all you have to say?”

Pete, who was totally confused, replied, “…. Uh, Happy Birthday?”

“…”

Justin took a deep breath and reminded him, “Other kids seem to make birthday cards for their parents during their birthdays.”

Pete curved his lip in disgust and said, “…. That’s very childish. I’m not going to do that.”

Justin, who was mercilessly rebuffed by his son, turned to the studio sullenly after leaving the words “Brat.” Then, he pulled out two pieces of poster board.

When Pete finished practicing, the sweaty boy prepared to take a bath. On his way to the bedroom, he passed the study. Through the gap in the door, he noticed Justin doing some crafts with his head down. He walked in curiously, then saw his powerful, domineering father writing ‘Happy Birthday, Dad’ in crooked, messy handwriting on an ugly card.

Pete, “…”

He looked at the tyrant with a complicated look and asked worriedly, “Have you seen a psychiatrist this month, Dad?”

“…”

When Nora returned home, Melissa was still outside.

Fearing she was being stalked at the Woods, Nora immediately texted her. Only when Melissa replied that all was well did she finally go upstairs with peace of mind.

Cherry, who had won another live showdown, was now among the top 300 live streamers. In another five days, she would be in the top ten and would face the other nine live streamers.

However, the little girl was unaware of this. After happily saying goodbye to the Grandfather Sponsor, she turned off the live stream, washed up and obediently got into bed.

After falling asleep, Nora sat up.

She took out her headphones, put them in her ears and located an audio recording on her cell phone. When she played it back, a clear voice began to speak: “Nora, when you hear this, Mom will be gone. Remember this: don’t expose your abilities. Before you are strong enough to protect yourself, be as mediocre as you can. Otherwise, your life will be in danger.”

Nora narrowed her eyes and stared coldly ahead.

After a while, she finally took off her headphones, lay down and closed her eyes. For some reason, the man in the white suit she had seen today flashed through her mind….

The next day, it was almost noon when Nora finally woke up. After a simple breakfast, she said to Cherry, “Go get ready. We’re going to celebrate your father’s birthday.”

Cherry was incredulous. “Are you really going to take me there, Mom?”

Was she planning a confrontation?

Nora smiled and replied, “Yes, of course.”

First of all, it was her father’s birthday after all, so they might as well celebrate. Secondly, she also wanted Cherry to see how sweet her son was to his elders .
