Nora

Chapter 103

Chapter 103:.

Cherry blinked and asked, “Do I have to dress up, Mom?”.

At her question, Nora was quiet for a while.

At first she intended to put on makeup so that no one would recognize her.

However, when she thought about how Justin had blushed during dinner the night before when he realized she had taken a sip of his drink…. She couldn’t help but think that it wasn’t really that scary, was it?

Besides, the unsettling feeling he’d had the night before made him want to know what exactly the source of danger was. Besides, why had his mother left those words before she died?

She had a vague feeling that her premarital pregnancy at the time was related to what had happened to her mother.

After the incident, she had done some research. In her memory, she had never been in contact with Justin. How exactly she got pregnant was also a mystery in itself.

To be honest, there was no point in keeping the truth from Justin.

In that case, she might as well be honest with him. As for why Justin hated Pete’s mother so much, there had to be some kind of misunderstanding.

She was a frank and open person. Everything would be fine once she explained it properly.

After thinking about it, Nora replied, “…. No, it’s okay.”

Cherry’s eyes lit up. “Really?”

“Yes, really.”

“That’s awesome!”

Cherry grabbed her cell phone and said, “I’m going to go tell Pete that our family is going to be reunited soon!”

Seeing that the little girl was about to run off gleefully, Nora suddenly asked, “Have you prepared a birthday present for Dad?”

Cherry paused and turned around. “Do children have to prepare presents for grown-ups?”.

Nora, “?”

Who was it that said she wasn’t a three-year-old anymore?

Just as she thought it, a smiling Cherry said, “Don’t worry, Mom! I’ve had it prepared for a long time! I’ve already written my speech. Daddy will love the compliments I’m going to say.”

“…”

So her birthday present to him was also a crazy fit of flattery?

Excellent! This was really very fair!

Nora paid no more attention to him. Instead, she turned around and went downstairs as she said, “Go change. I’ll wait for you downstairs.”

“Okie-Dokie!”

It was Saturday that day, so she didn’t have to go to the garden.

Tanya had moved to a hotel that the TV show production crew had arranged for her after picking Cherry up from the garden the day before, to make filming more comfortable.

Sheril had once again locked herself in the pharmaceutical factory lab. As for Logan, he usually stayed out all night every day and rarely returned…. Finally, Elderly Mrs. Anderson was napping.

Therefore, the house was deserted.

When Nora came downstairs, she saw a forlorn Melissa sitting on the couch. Although she was lost in thought, she was deeply ingrained to keep her back straight and pay attention to her form at all times, like a noblewoman who had undergone strict training in ancient times.

Nora approached her. “How did it go, Aunt Melissa?”

Melissa came to her senses and sighed. Then she replied, “Miranda has gone back to her parents’ house.”

She’s back at her parents’ house?

Nora instantly understood what had happened. “Is it because Uncle Farrell scolded her?”

Melissa nodded.

As head of the Woods, Farrell was not a hollow-minded man.

Thanks to Farrell, the Woods had developed to where he was. After all, times were changing and developing rapidly; many wealthy families of yesteryear who couldn’t keep up had eventually disappeared.

He had known Miranda’s character well for a long time.

At first, when Miranda had come home with a red, swollen cheek and had complained in tears that Nora had hit her, Farrell had believed her. However, when Melissa went to apologize, she explained that just because Miranda had hit her, Nora had also slapped her in anger. It was then that she immediately understood what had happened.

When she looked back at Miranda and saw the guilty look in her eyes, Farrell immediately reprimanded her.

However, instead of repenting, Miranda began to make a scene like a harpy. “Farrell, we’ve been married for many years! Even though I have made no great contributions to the household, I have given my life to this home. And yet you two are ganging up on me? It’s because you think the Sonnets are inferior to the Woods, isn’t it? So you despise me, do you? Then fine, I’ll leave!”

After saying that, he left.

Later, Farrell told Melissa to go home first. He also said that Miranda going back to her parents’ house to calm down a bit wasn’t bad either.

The two of them were husband and wife, they already had a son and daughter after all. Farrell would never truly ignore Miranda.

Melissa let out a sigh and said, “Farrell had an important meeting this morning, so he’s working overtime now. When I spoke to him just now, he told me that Miranda has to admit her wrongdoing before he brings her back home.”

The woman, worried, rubbed her temples.

What was wrong with living in harmony as a family? Why did she have to insist on fighting with each other?

She was thinking about it when suddenly she heard footsteps on the other side of the door. Along with the maid’s cry of “Mrs. Wood is here, ma’am,” Miranda rushed into the room.

She was terribly furious, but when she entered and immediately saw Nora, she paused slightly and her eyes flickered. Then, she backed away slightly and began shouting angrily at Melissa. “Way to go, troublemaker! Are you only going to be happy when our family is shattered and in pieces?”

Melissa scowled. “Haven’t you admitted your mistakes yet, Miranda?”

“Why would I have to admit any mistakes?” Miranda was so angry she wanted to punch someone. However, seeing Nora’s slim but tall figure, she stood at a safe distance and shouted, “It must be up to you that Farrell hasn’t come to bring me back home yet, right? You think the Woods will be yours just because I’m not there?

“Melissa, you’re so cheeky! You’re already a married woman, AND yet you keep meddling in your brother and sister-in-law’s affairs! If one didn’t know better, one would think there was something going on between you and your brother!”

“That’s enough!” cried Melissa harshly, her usual gentleness nowhere in sight. She said, “Even if you’re dying to embarrass me, shouldn’t you consider Rachel’s feelings? She’s a daughter of the Woods. How is she going to find a husband if outsiders hear you say that? Are you trying to embarrass the Woods!”

Melissa rarely reprimanded anyone. This was the first time she had ever spoken to her like that.

Miranda was stunned for a moment, but quickly came to her senses. She tapped her foot angrily and retorted, “Woods? You’re an Anderson now, what do the Woods have to do with you? You think you can tell me what to do when you’re not even a Woods anymore? Besides, I’m here to tell you something today!”.

Miranda lifted her chin and said, “You and Farrell have always looked down on me because the Sonnets are inferior to the Woods, haven’t you? Hahaha, but Farrell has decided to give up the opportunity to invest with the Lowes. The Sonnets have completely taken over the investment spot he vacated! We’ve already bought the place right now.”

His words stunned Melissa. “What?”

Seeing how shocked she was, Miranda said triumphantly, “You encouraged your brother to stop investing just to pick a fight with me, and you ended up giving us the chance to make money in vain! Melissa, are you really angry now?

“You just have to wait. When the Sonnets get rich, Farrell will definitely regret what he’s done. When that happens, he’ll finally understand where his real family is!”

“Melissa, when the Sonnets get big, both you and your brother will have to lead your lives trying to please me!”

Miranda turned and walked away immediately after leaving behind her blunt and sonorous statements. She gave no one a chance to refute her at all, leaving only Nora and Melissa who looked at each other speechless.

A moment later, the sound of footsteps reached them and Cherry came down the stairs on her short legs. She stretched out her arms and lunged toward Nora. “Mom, I’m dressed! We can go to Daddy now.”noveldrama
