Nora

Chapter 130

Chapter 130:.

The private room was completely silent.

With a deep stare, Justin looked directly at Nora and asked, “What kind of hardship?”

Nora couldn’t understand what the man was thinking, so she felt she couldn’t tell him everything at once. She had to take it slow. What if that domineering man took the two children and refused to let her see any more of him after she told him the truth?

Nora had never been one to do things she didn’t feel safe doing, especially when her children were involved. She looked down and said, “All mothers love their children. Maybe someone took the child from her when she had just given birth? Or maybe she’s been looking for the child all these years?”

Justin’s jaw tightened. He asked, “So, can you tell me how she got pregnant with my child?”

How did she get pregnant?

How could Nora know?

She shook her head. “Even you don’t know how the child came about… Maybe she doesn’t know either?”

Nora raised her head. Her almond eyes were very dark in her deathly pale countenance. However, her eyes shone with a dark light as she said, “Of course, I’m not trying to excuse her. Since she brought the baby into the world, it is her negligence as a mother not to have foreseen what would come next and not to have protected her child.”

She had spent every day in pain and regret for the past five years.noveldrama

Back then, she had immediately contacted her aunt overseas when she discovered she was pregnant. Her aunt had wanted to return to the United States to take her back immediately, but because Nora was in the midst of working on a medication, she had resisted leaving. So the two had agreed that her aunt would only return for her during her ninth month of pregnancy.

Cold-hearted people like the Smiths would never help her raise her children.

She had imagined many different scenarios, but she had never expected that she would give birth prematurely. Nor had she expected Henry to be so ruthless-how had he dared to bury his own grandchild with his bare hands?

After that, she had blamed herself and regretted her actions countless times, but it had all been futile and in vain.

Justin looked at her. Though she was expressionless, she gave off an air of pain. He wanted to ask what exactly had happened then, but suddenly didn’t dare ask any more.

From the way she coddled Pete so excessively, it was obvious that she was not someone who would abandon her son.

Besides, she was Anti. Money was at her fingertips. There was no way she was interested in a mere $1.5 million. Therefore, the woman who had called him anonymously that time was not her at all.

Unfortunately, he had dug up a baby in the place the woman had given him and had seen that the baby was on the verge of death. After that, she had also taken a DNA paternity test and had verified that the baby was indeed her child. He then tried to locate Pete’s mother’s phone number, but by then she had disappeared off the face of the earth. All trace of her had been erased.

At the time, he thought the woman must have been afraid that he would take revenge on her. Although he had never stopped looking for her in all these years, he didn’t put much effort into it either.

After all, she was Pete’s mother, so should he really kill her after he had found her?

But now that he thought about it again, how could someone who had the ability to escape his tracking efforts and leave him clueless after calling him lack that $1.5 million?

Beep.

In the midst of his thoughts, his cell phone suddenly rang. It was Lawrence sending him information about Caleb. Justin looked at Nora: she was staring blankly, as if still stuck in her memories. He didn’t bother her and opened the email.

The email contained all of Caleb’s information.

Name: Caleb Gray

Age: 29 years old

Height/weight: 6’2″, 154 lbs.

Health: frail and infirm.

Justin frowned at the sight.

No wonder he hadn’t married yet despite being 29. It was probably his ‘frail and sickly’ constitution that was holding him back.

He read on. The more he read, the graver his expression became.

Lawrence didn’t dare give him any subjective guesses, so all he sent was information he had found during his research.

The California Grays first made their fortune in Canada, but Caleb’s father had returned to the United States with his older brother twenty-five years ago and settled in California.

Later, the Grays and Nora’s mother, Yvette Anderson, were in frequent contact, so they decided to have their children intermarry.

As far as the Grays were concerned, being the second son, Caleb had never been involved in the Grays’ domestic business and had grown up all the time overseas, as if he had been in exile.

He was very smart. He enrolled in college at twelve, did his doctoral studies at fifteen, and became a pharmacist thereafter. However, he stopped being a pharmacist very early on. One could say that he left the industry to become a businessman.

His return to the United States was due to the fact that he had fallen out with the Grays in California. He planned to open a pharmaceutical factory in New York.

There seemed to be no problem with his life story, and he seemed very much like an underprivileged second son in the family. However, the strange thing here was that the Grays made phone calls overseas almost every other day.

In fact, Lawrence couldn’t tell where they were calling.

However, since Caleb returned to the United States, the Grays had stopped making overseas calls.

Moreover, the Grays’ first business asset in California had also been a pharmaceutical factory. However, none of the other Grays had ever done anything related to medicine!

Something was definitely wrong here.

Nora had recovered as Justin thought. She looked back at Cherry and asked with a smile, “Cherry…. Pit, you’re going to the Quinn School of Martial Arts tomorrow, right?”.

She could switch back to the kids once she was there.

After all, the little girl had to attend classes!

Cherry’s big, pretty eyes twinkled and she nodded. “Aha!”

But as soon as she said that, Justin said, “We’re taking the day off tomorrow, so she won’t be going.”

Cherry and Nora, “?”

They both looked at Justin, only to see him say without batting an eye, “I have to go to the main house tomorrow, so I’ll take Pete there.”

He still hadn’t spent enough time with his daughter, how was he going to let them switch back?

Once he sent Cherry to the Quinn School of Martial Arts, she’d never come back!

Justin had already figured it out. He would take Cherry to the main house the next day and stay there for a few days. This way, her grandmother and mother could spend some time with her. At the same time, she would also renovate the villa and set up a room for her daughter.

The corners of Nora’s lips spasmed. “When is Pete going to go to the Quinn School of Martial Arts, then?”

Justin looked at her and said with a smile, “Next month I guess.”

“…”

Nora gave Cherry a look that screamed ‘You’re on your own’. Then she stood up and said, “Fine. In that case, that’s it for our talk today, Mr. Hunt!”.

He headed for the door. As soon as he opened it, he saw Caleb standing nearby. His brooding eyes peered out as soon as the door opened. “Since you two have finished your talk, is it our turn now, Miss Smith?”

Before Nora could say anything, Justin said, “You can talk in this private room.”

It was good that Nora didn’t bother to go anywhere else either. Besides, the private room was probably already paid for, so she nodded her head and said, “Okay, fine.”

However, when Caleb entered the private room, he saw that Justin was still sitting inside.

Caleb was taken aback for a moment. Then, he gracefully took a seat. His thin, moist lips looked rather lovely on his overly pale face. He was handsome and his eyes looked terribly innocent. He said, “Miss Smith, about the marriage settlement…”

Before he could finish, however, he was interrupted by Justin’s icy words.

“Mr. Gray, the marriage settlement has been annulled. I will not trouble you to deal with the mother of my child.”

Nora, “????”
