Chapter 133

Chapter 133:

His soft whispers sent a jolt through Tanya.

For how many days and nights had those words appeared in her dreams…..

Tanya’s eyes widened and she looked up at Mia. Just as she was about to look closely at her, Hillary stepped forward in fright. She took Mia’s hand and said, “Mommy is here, Mia. Here, let Mommy take you…”.

Tanya froze again, feeling as if her heart had been pricked by something.

What was she thinking? Mia’s mother was Hillary. She had nothing to do with her.

Yet, as Mia had passed out, in her daze, she seemed convinced that Tanya was her mother. Her little hands clutched tightly to the corners of her clothes and refused to let go, apparently afraid she would leave.

A piercing look appeared in Hillary’s eyes at the sight of her. Immediately, she frowned and forcefully unfolded the girl’s fingers at once. This made Tanya’s heart ache, and she couldn’t help but grab her wrist.

“Don’t be so rough…”

Hillary paused and emphasized once more, “Tanya, she’s my daughter. Please let her go.”

Tanya slowly loosened her grip…..

The way Hillary kept repeating ‘my daughter’ over and over again made her feel as if there were thorns sticking in her heart.

Indeed, what right did she have to question the girl’s mother? Even though her heart ached terribly for the child because the pain made her frown even while she was in a coma, she could not say a word.

At that moment, Joel stepped forward and gripped Hillary’s hand tightly. The usually mild-mannered man sharply commanded, “Let go!”

Hillary was taken aback.

Joel pushed her away and looked at Tanya. Her lips twitched slightly. After a long moment of hesitation, he said, “Miss Turner, Mia got confused in her sleep. To keep her from hurting herself, may I trouble you to take her to the VIP lounge?”

“Miss Turner…”

He had called her Miss Turner.

Tanya felt that the man was using such a familiar voice and face to say things that felt so strange to her….. The steely, unbearable pain made the expression on her face change again and again. Finally, he smiled and said, “Sure.”

After Tanya led Mia upstairs and out of the room with Joel following nervously behind her, Hillary clenched her fists tightly. A vicious look came out of her eyes.

Mia was her only hope of holding Joel.

She would never let anyone take her away.

With that in mind, she hurried after them.

In the VIP room.

Mia was still clinging to Tanya’s sleeve even after placing her on the bed. Miss Lynn and the kindergarten doctor gently reminded her, “Remember not to offend Mr. Smith, lest he hold the kindergarten responsible…. It’s going to be a little hard for you, but please do your best, Miss Turner!”

Since the accident had occurred at the kindergarten, it went without saying that the kindergarten was held accountable.

As a substitute teacher, Tanya was also accountable to the kindergarten.

Therefore, Tanya took a seat next to the bed and said, “I’ll wait until Mia calms down before I leave.”

Both Miss Lynn and the kindergarten doctor sighed with relief. After that, they made up an excuse and left. After all, the garden needed them there.

After the two left, aside from Mia, who was in bed, there were only three people left in the room – Joel, Tanya and Hillary.

Tanya looked at Mia in silence.

Her face was very small and her eyes were closed. Her fragile and delicate physique made those who saw her only wish they could take care of her. She looked a lot like Joel, but she had a different aura about her than her father.

Tanya had once thought that Joel was so handsome that, if she were a woman, she would undoubtedly be a stunning beauty. She had wanted to have a daughter with him.

… Now she did have a daughter, but she was not the one who gave birth to her.

A lump formed in Tanya’s throat and she lowered her head.

Mia remained in a deep sleep for more than two hours.

Tanya pressed her hand to her stomach in discomfort.

She had been in the hospital since morning and still hadn’t eaten anything? Originally, going hungry for a meal or two shouldn’t have been a big problem, but since she had been dancing since she was a child, in order to maintain her figure, she didn’t eat much at each meal. As a result, she was prone to gastritis and needed to eat on time.

Joel suddenly got up and walked out without saying anything.

Hillary suddenly said, “I misunderstood you, Tanya. I’m so sorry.”

Tanya, who had always been a vivacious and feisty woman, stared out the window.

“It’s all right.”

Hillary breathed a sigh of relief. She said, “Mia is the daughter I had with Joel. She’s always been in poor health since she was a baby, so Joel takes great care of her. I don’t even know if she will be able to be discharged today. Her favorite thing is sleeping next to her dad and me…. Gosh!”

‘Sleeping together’… So they’re already living together…

Well, that makes sense. They’ve already had a child together, plus five years have passed in the blink of an eye. They should be married by now, shouldn’t they?

She suddenly thought about how Joel barely moved when he was asleep, while his limbs were all over the place when she slept. Every time she woke up, she saw Joel looking at her with a resigned face. She remembered that time she had opened her eyes and seen Joel with a black eye. At that moment she had a big scare. Later she found out that it was because he had hit her while she was sleeping.

At the time, Tanya had jokingly said, “Let’s buy a ten foot by ten foot bed in the future. That way, it won’t matter if we roll around in bed!”.

However, Joel hugged her tightly and said, “No, it’s okay. I’ll hold your arms and legs instead, lest you accidentally hurt our future children…”

Tanya lowered her eyes and forcibly repressed all the memories buried inside her.

The door opened at that moment.

Joel walked in. In his hands were two roast beef sandwiches, Tanya’s favorite.

Ripples ran through the depths of Tanya’s heart when she noticed the sandwiches.

Were they for her?

But as Joel slowly approached the two women, Hillary suddenly reached out and took one. She said, “Thank you, Joel! We haven’t had lunch yet, so I was hungry.”

Joel was taken aback.

However, Hillary had already taken the sandwich and opened the wrapper on the couch next to him. Then, she looked at Tanya apologetically and said, “I’m sorry, Miss Turner. Joel only bought two, so he didn’t buy her any…”

Joel looked unconsciously at Tanya: the woman had her head down and a calm expression on her face. Her hand, which Mia wasn’t holding, was pressed against her stomach, but instead she said, “I’m not hungry.”

Joel looked down. Suddenly, he walked over to Hillary, took the sandwich from her, and said coldly, “I made a mistake. There are pickles in this, but you don’t eat them. Since Mia doesn’t need you here, you can go home for now.”

Hillary, “?”

She raised her head. She was about to say, “But I love pickles,” when she made eye contact with Joel’s dark eyes, which startled her so much that she swallowed the words.

Although she resisted, she didn’t dare disobey Joel. She stood up and said, “Okay, then I’ll be back tonight.”noveldrama

When he left, Joel handed Tanya a sandwich.

Tanya stared at the sandwich and said, “I don’t eat pickles.”

Although Joel had a gentle expression on his face, the look in his eyes was cold. He placed the sandwich in the cabinet next to her and said, “You can throw it away if you don’t want to eat it.”

Tanya, “…”

At that moment, a doctor making the rounds entered the room. He apologized and said, “My apologies, Mr. Smith. I heard that one of our doctors mistook someone else for the girl’s mother…. It was not our intention. It’s just that your daughter looks a little like Miss Turner, so …”
