“Hey? Hey!”

The garden descended into chaos. Tanya picked up Mia and ran straight to the garden doctor’s office. She called out to Mia as she ran, but the little girl didn’t react.

Tanya felt as if her heart had stopped beating.

For some reason, the little life in her arms made her want to cry, but she didn’t dare think too much about it. When she arrived at the garden doctor’s office, upon examining Mia, the doctor discovered that she had an allergic reaction, so she was immediately taken to the hospital.

Since Tanya was the first to hear that she had fainted, she had to follow them to the hospital so she could explain the situation to the doctor. So she accompanied them.

They went to the emergency room. The doctor turned to Tanya with a frown after examining Mia and scolded her. He said, “This child is allergic to mango. Like her mother, how can she be so careless?”.

Tanya was shocked.

Her colleague, the garden doctor, who was standing next to her, wanted to explain, but the doctor was too busy. He said, “Why do you keep chattering here? Hurry up and put her on an IV drip. Mango allergies are no joke.”

The garden doctor panicked when he learned that this was a serious illness.

Mia was the very life of the Smiths’ boss. If something happened to her in the garden, they would be in trouble!

After the doctor prescribed Mia some medication, the nurse took them into the next room and hooked the girl up to an IV drip. As the hospital was overcrowded, there were no beds available. Tanya had no choice but to put her on her lap and hold her while they sat in the room.

Joel didn’t seem to have changed at all over the past few years.

Tanya held her breath as he looked at her. It felt as if all the air in her lungs had disappeared and her chest felt terribly tight.

She looked away immediately, not daring to look him in the eye.

This continued until the doctor came over to take a look at Mia. He stood in the doorway and said, “Are you the girl’s father? What’s the matter with you and your wife? Don’t you know that your daughter is allergic to mangoes? Besides, mangoes aren’t something you can get easily either, how can you be so careless?”

Was the little girl in her arms really Joel’s?

Tanya felt as if her mind had gone completely blank.

Hillary found his statement dubious. However, Joel’s expression darkened even more the moment she said that. He immediately took a step forward and let out a sigh. He said, “I’m sorry, Tanya. I was too worried about Mia…. But now that we’re here, you don’t have to stay here anymore.”

She continued, “Joel has already moved Mia to a VIP room at the hospital, so we won’t be staying here anymore. Please give me back my daughter.”

He deliberately stressed the words ‘my daughter’, making Tanya’s fingers tense a little.
