Chapter 132

Chapter 132:.

“Hey? Hey!”

The garden descended into chaos. Tanya picked up Mia and ran straight to the garden doctor’s office. She called out to Mia as she ran, but the little girl didn’t react.

Tanya felt as if her heart had stopped beating.

For some reason, the little life in her arms made her want to cry, but she didn’t dare think too much about it. When she arrived at the garden doctor’s office, upon examining Mia, the doctor discovered that she had an allergic reaction, so she was immediately taken to the hospital.

Since Tanya was the first to hear that she had fainted, she had to follow them to the hospital so she could explain the situation to the doctor. So she accompanied them.

They went to the emergency room. The doctor turned to Tanya with a frown after examining Mia and scolded her. He said, “This child is allergic to mango. Like her mother, how can she be so careless?”.

Tanya was shocked.

Her colleague, the garden doctor, who was standing next to her, wanted to explain, but the doctor was too busy. He said, “Why do you keep chattering here? Hurry up and put her on an IV drip. Mango allergies are no joke.”

The garden doctor panicked when he learned that this was a serious illness.

Mia was the very life of the Smiths’ boss. If something happened to her in the garden, they would be in trouble!

After the doctor prescribed Mia some medication, the nurse took them into the next room and hooked the girl up to an IV drip. As the hospital was overcrowded, there were no beds available. Tanya had no choice but to put her on her lap and hold her while they sat in the room.

It was quite cold in New York at the time. In addition, little Mia was very weak. Intravenous fluids were entering her body through the needle in her hand, making her little hands freezing cold.

Tanya held her little hands and warmed her with her own.

Miss Lynn, who had also come with them, paced back and forth with bloodshot eyes. She kept blaming herself as she paced back and forth.

“It’s all my fault for not keeping an eye on Mia. But there really aren’t any mangoes in our garden – where exactly did Mia get it from?”

The doctor also had a very worried look on his face as Miss Lynn talked to herself.

Tanya looked at the little girl.

She too was allergic to mangoes. She hadn’t expected the two to be connected in such a way….

At that moment, urgent footsteps approached them. From the sound, there were two people walking towards them. The next moment, a man and a woman appeared in the doorway.

Tanya looked up. She hadn’t even seen anyone when Miss Lynn said, “I’m so sorry, Mr. Smith. It’s all because we didn’t take good enough care of Mia. She ate some mangoes…”

Mr. Smith?

Tanya was taken aback. Then, she heard a soft, gentle voice that sounded a little cold at the time.

“How’s Mia?”

Tanya felt as if her heart had stopped beating. Her head swiveled to the side, and a familiar figure that had appeared in her dreams countless times over the years came into her view.

Joel didn’t seem to have changed at all over the past few years.

He simply seemed a bit more mature and assertive than the youngster he had been then. His attractive slitted eyes fixed on Mia as soon as he entered the room. Apparently because he finally saw that she was breathing normally, he let out a sigh of relief.

A moment later, he finally realized something and his gaze slowly drifted to Tanya.

Tanya held her breath as he looked at her. It felt as if all the air in her lungs had disappeared and her chest felt terribly tight.

She looked away immediately, not daring to look him in the eye.

Joel, who had at first approached anxiously, finally stopped at the door. His eyes widened in shock and a layer of frost suddenly formed over his usually placid countenance.noveldrama

A cold, heavy atmosphere filled the room.

This continued until the doctor came over to take a look at Mia. He stood in the doorway and said, “Are you the girl’s father? What’s the matter with you and your wife? Don’t you know that your daughter is allergic to mangoes? Besides, mangoes aren’t something you can get easily either, how can you be so careless?”

“Child…”.

Was the little girl in her arms really Joel’s?

Tanya felt as if her mind had gone completely blank.

She had lost her own daughter…. In fact, she had never even seen her daughter before.

Yet, she already had a daughter….

While she was lost in thought, a high-pitched voice suddenly came from the doorway.

“Tanya!!! Why are you here, and why are you carrying my daughter?”

Tanya looked at Hillary and her gaze turned cold.

Her daughter…

So, this meant that the little girl in her arms was Joel and Hillary’s daughter!

She looked down. Just as she was about to speak….

Hillary rushed in, “What are you doing? Why did you tell the doctor you’re her mother? It is obvious that I am his mother. Tell me, were you the one who fed Mia mangoes?”.

After speaking, she raised her hand and directed it towards Tanya’s cheek!

Tanya was holding Mia. If she let go of her to block the attack, the needle in the girl’s hand would definitely come off. However, if she didn’t, the slap would land on her cheek!

Although she knew that Mia was Hillary’s daughter, Tanya’s first reaction was not to let go of the girl but to protect her and keep her safe.

Slap!

Tanya closed her eyes. However, the slap she expected did not hit her.

Startled, she opened her eyes. Joel was standing in front of her and holding Hillary by the wrist. His eyebrows drew together and he said, “What are you doing?”

It was then that Hillary realized she had lost control of herself for a moment.

Her eyes reddened and she immediately lowered her head sadly. She said, “Joel, I was just too anxious a moment ago…. You should also know that Tanya was wrong about me in the past. When I saw that Mia had become ill, I still held her…. Mia was in the garden all the time. How did Tanya get close to her…?”

Joel released Hillary and she stepped back.

In an extremely cold voice and with an even colder attitude, Tanya said, “Hillary Jones, I was in the garden because I’m the dance teacher they hired especially on short notice!”

“The dance teacher?” Hillary scoffed, “Why did you have to go to Sol de Oro International Kindergarten when there are so many other kindergartens in the country? Are you purposely trying to get close to Mia? What are you trying to do with Joel’s and my daughter?”

‘Joel’s and my daughter’….

The six words were like a knife twisting in Tanya’s heart.

Someone she had thought of as her sister in the past was now with the man she loved the most…..

She took a deep breath and said, “Believe it or not, when I walked into the garden – and up until a moment ago – I had absolutely no idea that Mia is your daughter!”.

“Is that so?”

Hillary found his statement dubious. However, Joel’s expression darkened even more the moment she said that. He immediately took a step forward and let out a sigh. He said, “I’m sorry, Tanya. I was too worried about Mia…. But now that we’re here, you don’t have to stay here anymore.”

She continued, “Joel has already moved Mia to a VIP room at the hospital, so we won’t be staying here anymore. Please give me back my daughter.”

He deliberately stressed the words ‘my daughter’, making Tanya’s fingers tense a little.

He was right. It was Joel’s daughter and hers…..

Tanya rose carefully. Perhaps because she was reminded of her own daughter, who had disappeared at birth, she felt unwilling to part with Mia.

As if sensing Tanya’s pain, the corners of Hillary’s lips curved upward. She reached out, took Mia in her arms and said, “Thank you for taking care of our daughter, Tanya.”

But as soon as she said that, Mia’s little hands gripped Tanya’s clothes tightly and she whispered, “Mommy, don’t leave me .
