Chapter 137
Chapter 137:
However, Justin didn’t give her a chance to speak. He said coldly, “I’ll talk to the garden. Miss Turner will be under the Hunts’ protection from now on.”
He hung up right after saying that.
Justin looked at Cherry tenderly and said, “There, I’ve made the call. Don’t worry, Pete.”
He had been quite taken aback when she had said that.
However, he had reacted quickly and knew it was a great opportunity for him.
After all, one should never offend one’s wife’s best friend.
So, he had made the call. For him, it was nothing more than a matter of raising his finger.
Cherry nodded her head and squeaked, “Okie-Dokie!”.
Justin, however, was still staring at her.
Cherry blinked and asked, “What’s wrong, Daddy?”.
Wasn’t little Cherry cute today?
Just as she wondered, Justin said, “You should call your mom and let her know about this.”
How could he keep quiet after doing a good deed?
Cherry cocked her head to the side and asked, “Why?”
Without batting an eye, Justin replied, “Because your mom won’t have to worry anymore if you do that, will she?”
After thinking for a while, Cherry agreed and said, “Okie-Dokie!”.
Justin sat back and watched as his adorable baby pulled out the cell phone. His little fingers slid across the screen and turned it on. Then, he dialed Nora’s number.
The young girl’s lazy voice rang from the other end of the call the moment she connected.
“What is it, Cherry?”
Cherry found herself missing Mom a little when she heard the familiar voice. Longing flashed in her big eyes as she said, “Mom, the garden fired Godmother!”.
“What happened?”
The woman’s voice instantly became high-pitched. Then, Cherry heard rustling noises from the other end of the call; she was probably….. Getting out of bed?
Cherry continued, however, and said, “But you don’t have to worry, Mommy~ I’ve already fixed it for you~.”
Justin, “?”
Cherry said triumphantly, “I convinced Daddy to call the Smiths after I heard the news, so Godmother should be fine soon~ Aren’t I super awesome, Mommy!”.
The woman on the other side relaxed and probably laid back on the bed. She said, “Aha, Cherry is the best. I’ll tell your Godmother to thank you when she comes back. Mwah~”
Then, she yawned again and said, “Mm, I’m going to bed.”
And then, she hung up.
Justin, “????”
He was obviously the one who settled the matter, so why did all the credit go to Cherry in the end?
His expression immediately darkened.
However, Cherry walked up to him right after. She smiled and said, “There, I’ve made the call, Dad! Isn’t Cherry…. Pit super awesome?”
Although his teeth were chattering, Justin forced a small smile and replied, “…. Yes, it is.”
Satisfied, Cherry ran off to play in the den.
Justin let out a silent sigh as he gazed at that diminutive figure.
If it was Pete, his big hand would have already made intimate contact with her tiny ass. But if it was Cherry… It didn’t matter. Girls were delicate creatures. After all, she was his daughter. All he could do was coddle her, he supposed.
Now that he could no longer count on his daughter, Justin could only do something for himself.
He picked up his cell phone and called Nora.
The other party answered quickly. The voice on the other end sounded very annoyed as she asked, “What’s wrong now?”
Justin paused a little and asked, “Aren’t you going to buy me dinner after I helped you today, Miss Smith?”
“… Oh, I see.”
Justin, “…”
“Text me where and when,” Nora said.
Justin breathed a sigh of relief. He chose a restaurant and sent her the address.
Then, he got up and prepared to leave. As he passed the studio, he saw Cherry playing there. If it were Pete, he would never take him with him and make him be the third wheel.
But if it was Cherry…. He supposed it was better to take her. Otherwise, what if she started crying at home?
Justin smiled and motioned to her. “Let’s go out to dinner, Pete.”
“Okie-Dokie!”

Smith Corporation.
In the office, Joel clenched his fists tightly after Justin hung up. The look in his eyes, as he stared straight ahead, was volatile and unreadable.
Even his expression, always friendly, had become a bit cutting. An unusual gleam appeared in his deep-set eyes. He pressed the button that called his personal assistant. Thirty seconds later, his assistant knocked on the door and entered. “Is there something you need me for, Mr. Smith?”
Joel’s voice was terribly cold as he ordered, “Find out what happened at Sol de Oro International Kindergarten.”
The assistant was stunned for a moment.
Joel was known to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He had always been mild mannered and treated everyone friendly. During all these years as his personal assistant, Joel had been relatively lenient with him even when he made the occasional mistake.
It was the first time he had ever seen such a cold and merciless look on Joel’s face.noveldrama
The attendant was quick to nod his head and replied respectfully, “Yes, sir.”
When the assistant left, Joel stood there thinking for a while, yet he got up and walked out of his office. When the assistant became aware of his presence, he said in surprise, “Mr. Smith?”
Joel instructed, “Cancel all my meetings today. Call me when you know what happened.”
“Yes, sir.”
Joel rode the CEO-only elevator down to the subway parking garage and exited alone.
To be honest, he didn’t know where he wanted to go, but he simply felt very irritated. He drove aimlessly through New York. Before he knew it, he had arrived at the university where he used to study.
He stopped the car. He was about to get in when he immediately saw a familiar figure.
The young woman, who looked a little sad, was sitting on a bench under a tree. Her figure, slim and frail, was slowly blending in with the one from a few years ago.
All the noise around her seemed to disappear and time rewound quietly to a few years ago….
In high school, they had promised each other that they would attend NYU together. However, when they were seniors, she began to pursue dance before the entrance exams. She wanted to go professional, so she gave up on enrolling at NYU and instead made plans to go abroad. He was very saddened when she told him, but he didn’t want to hold her back, so he agreed.
From then on, the two spoke little to each other. After the college entrance exams, the two did not communicate for the entire summer.
When classes finally started, all Joel could feel was dejection as he walked around with his luggage without her. It seemed like the world only became bright and colorful when she was around.
But as he walked, he suddenly heard someone calling his name.
He looked up and saw her standing at the NYU reception desk for freshmen with a suitcase. With a big smile on her face, she had shouted, “Joel Smith! I’m staying here for you! Don’t you dare bully me in the future, do you hear me?”.
Even after all these years, he could still clearly remember that she had worn a pale blue dress that day. Her calves were clear and her figure tall and slender.
When she smiled, it was as if everything around her lit up.
In the midst of Joel’s thoughts, the sound of a cell phone suddenly interrupted his thoughts.
Had his assistant already heard about what had happened in the garden?
