Nora

Chapter 143

Chapter 143:

Joel stopped abruptly in his tracks, a hint of surprise forming in his upturned eyes.

Justin Hunt was with Nora Smith?

What was the relationship between the two?

Suddenly, those inside seemed to notice movement outside, and Justin’s sharp gaze penetrated through the window.

Joel quickly backed away and ducked to the side. He no longer looked inside. However, he could hear violent pounding coming from inside. There were sounds of their bodies crashing against the wall, as well as muffled grunts from colliding with each other. He could also hear gasps between them….

The intense activity made even Joel blush.

He took another step back and slipped away quietly, as if afraid of being discovered. Now that would be awkward.

The last time he remembered hearing such inappropriate sounds for children was when he was still with Tanya, five years ago. As for Hillary, it was because she had gotten drunk one night. He clearly remembered that the person he was in bed with was Tanya, but when he woke up, it was Hillary instead….

In his memories, he had never slept with Hillary.

Not in the past, let alone for the past five years.

Joel didn’t continue going to the front room, but went back to Ian’s room.

In the stairwell.

With his leg locked, Nora’s fist came into play. Seeing an opening, she punched him in the left shoulder.

After succeeding, she finally ended the fight and stepped back, away from him. He said coolly, “Mr. Hunt, please keep a proper distance from me.”

Justin held his shoulder. From the looks of it, his injury seemed quite serious. He flashed her a wry smile and said, “Looks like it was you who approached me first, Miss Smith…”

Nora was still wearing a look of circumstance. Her gaze was sharp and her eyes were clouded with anger. The tips of her ears were also a little red.

She was only planning to teach Justin a little lesson at that moment, but the moment they finished talking and she let go of him, he immediately reached out and grabbed her around the waist, pulling her to him. Then, he leaned down and kissed her…. He kissed her…

Damn it!

Nora had thrown a punch at him the next moment. Unfortunately, the man had the audacity to duck. The two struggled for ten minutes before she found an opening and hit him, thus getting back at him.

Nora looked at him coldly and clenched her fists. “If this happens again, Mr. Hunt, I will kill you!”

Then she pushed open the door to the staircase and left immediately, leaving Justin there as he touched his nose in embarrassment.

He thought back to the scene of a moment ago.

The stairwell was dimly lit. The girl’s head was up as she looked at him with her cold, sharp eyes. On her small, palm-sized face were a pair of delicate eyebrows and eyes, a sharp, tapering nose, as well as moist, rosy lips….

Unable to restrain himself, he had acted on impulse and kissed her.

Although the kiss had lasted only a brief moment, the girl’s soft, tender lips remained in his memory even now.

When he touched his dislocated left shoulder again, a smile suddenly appeared at the corner of his lips.

Indeed, it was wild enough for his taste.

Ten minutes later.

The family doctor came over to put his shoulder back in place. Seeing that Justin couldn’t exert much force, he couldn’t help but gape a little.

“Who hit you, Mr. Hunt?”

After all, there were only a few people in New York-in fact, in the entire United States-who could beat Justin in a fight.

The family doctor had always confined himself to treating Pete and Justin’s mother whenever they were unwell. It was the first time he had treated Justin in all these years.

However, the moment the question came out of his mouth, he secretly regretted his actions. He shouldn’t ask so many questions about his employer’s business, especially when it came to Justin. At first glance, the man looked like the head of the Hunts. However, he knew that his identity was far from straightforward. He had never said anything more than he should have all these years.

Now that he had suddenly asked such a question, would Mr. Hunt be angry with him?

The GP watched Justin carefully as he kneaded his shoulder. Not only was the man not upset, however, but the corners of his lips were even slightly turned up.

The beauty mark in his eye, which normally gave off a cold and merciless aura, even seemed to glow a little at that moment.

Justin, who was obviously in a fantastic mood, even answered her question from a moment ago, “It was worth the fight.”

The family doctor, “…”

Why were there people who really liked getting beaten up?

Surely your boss wasn’t a closet masochist, was he?

Should I prescribe some medicine for his mental health?

After having his joint put back in place, Justin started walking back to Cherry’s room while shaking his shoulder. As expected, he saw that the woman was still there. She had fallen asleep on the couch next to him.

Her eyes were closed and her long, silky, shiny hair was spread out behind her. Her small, sharp nose gave her a quiet, docile appearance.

Coupled with her thinness, it made you want to protect and care for her because you couldn’t help that she looked so weak and fragile. However, once she opened her eyes, she became a completely different person.

Justin softened his steps. First he checked on Cherry: she slept soundly with her little mouth open and even talked in her sleep. She muttered, “Stinky daddy! How dare you delete me from your Facebook account? I’m never talking to you again.”

Justin, “…”

He let out a soft laugh and pulled the covers up for her. Then, he let out a sigh.

If he had known Cherry was his daughter, he would have been delirious with joy a long time ago. He would never have done all those things that were no different than slapping himself in the face.

After covering Cherry up, he looked back down at the woman on the couch. Then he took off his jacket, reached over and gently covered her with it.

The next day.

When Nora woke up it was already very sunny.

Cherry was dutifully eating her cereal in bed quietly.

Nora prepared to get up. However, when she moved, the jacket she wore over her shoulders immediately slipped off. Her gaze shifted to it; when she saw the tailored black suit jacket, she raised her eyebrows.

She yawned and stood up.

Cherry said, “Dad has a meeting in the morning, so he went to it. Where are you going now, Mom?”

Nora stretched and shuffled toward the door as she replied, “I’m going home.”

Cherry looked at her pityingly. “… Mommy, can you bear to leave me alone in the hospital?”

Nora looked at her and said coldly, “Don’t be so fake.”

“…”

Then, Cherry let out a giggle and said, “Take care of yourself, Mommy~.”

Now that mommy was gone, she could play as much as she wanted!

Since she hadn’t done her live broadcast the night before, she couldn’t help but wonder how Grandpa was doing. She had texted him on Messenger in the morning, but he hadn’t responded. Geez.

A worried Cherry rested her chin on her hand. What was wrong with Sponsor Grandpa?

She picked up her cell phone again and sent him another Messenger message, “Sponsor Grandpa, I was hospitalized last night with the stomach flu. Have you eaten today?”

It was a shame that the message remained unanswered even after he sent it.

Nora walked out of the room, shuffling her feet loudly as she left. She had just rounded the corner when she saw a figure looking at her.

“Are you free for a quick chat, Miss Smith?”

Nora raised her eyebrows. She figured Joel was approaching her about Ian-after all, the Andersons were the only ones with Rest Pills-so she nodded.

Unexpectedly, the next moment, Joel asked, “What is your relationship with Mr. Hunt, Ms. Smith?”

Nora, “???”
