Chapter 150
Chapter 150:.
Both had received interview notices.
To apply to be a graduate student, one had to pass a preliminary exam and then an interview. Before the interview, they also had to contact their tutors, so that it would be easier for them to pass the interview.
If Director Shaw and Angela had hit it off, with Director Shaw accompanying her, the interview would be a mere formality.
Therefore, Angela was not nervous at all.
Lisa also breathed a sigh of relief as she looked at the interview notice. Her interviews were the same day, and the results would basically come out shortly after the interviews.
Once she passed the interview, she could stay in New York and intern at a hospital. However, Lisa had no intention of leaving even if she did not pass the interview.
New York had one of the highest standards of medical care in the country. The city also had the most advanced equipment, so she wanted to stay and learn more.
As she pondered this, Angela suddenly looked at her. She walked over and said, “I want to use the desk for a while.”
Lisa, “?”
Her eyebrows drew together as she looked at Angela, who had her arms outstretched, but still turned away at the end and walked over to the couch with her books in her arms.
The couch in the five-star hotel room was very narrow, so he couldn’t move at all when he slept on it. After the last few days, his back was already aching. He leaned against the dining room table and continued reading.
He had barely taken a couple of glances when he heard loud voices.
Angela had turned on her cell phone and was watching a variety TV show.
She had turned the audio up very loud and was also laughing out loud. It was so loud she couldn’t read at all. Lisa took a deep breath, put on her headphones and continued reading.
Nine o’clock at night.
As Lisa pushed away from the table, Angela turned off the lights in the room.
Lisa panicked. “I’m still studying my materials on patients with severe head injuries. I’m scheduled to go in that direction tomorrow for the interview. Why are you turning off the lights?”
Angela raised her eyebrows and said, “What does your interview have to do with me? I’m going to sleep. You’ll only have energy for the interview after a good night’s sleep.”
Then she lay down on the bed.
Lisa, “!”
She took a deep breath and headed for the bathroom sulking with her books. She turned on a dim lamp, sat on the toilet bowl and continued her studies on the subject.
In the bedroom, Angela rested on the bed. Since she was used to staying awake, she couldn’t sleep either, so she started using her cell phone instead.
Wendy texted her, ‘How is Lisa?’
Angela replied, ‘She’s fine, I guess, but I don’t want it to happen. It would make me look bad if it got out that she passed too.’
Wendy wrote: ‘Isn’t it easy? You can hide her admission ticket.’
Her words made Angela’s eyes light up.
She sat up from the bed and peeked slyly into the bathroom.
Actually, this time she wasn’t the one who had gotten the best grade at the University of California Medical School for the graduate written entrance exam. The one who had gotten the best grade was Lisa.
She had never expected that little bitch to outshine her.
Therefore, I should not have given her the opportunity to attend the interview.
Especially when… Angela had discovered that Lisa had also filled in Principal Shaw’s name in the Preferred Tutor field when she glanced at her application form earlier that day.
Didn’t that then make her a competitor?
Director Shaw only accepted four to five graduate students a year. Every place filled was a place lost.
Angela got out of bed and quietly walked over to Lisa’s backpack. She rummaged through it, pulled out her ID card and admission ticket, wrapped them up and hid them in her own backpack.
That night, Lisa made enough preparations for her interview the next day.
By the time she went to sleep on the couch, it was already one o’clock in the morning. She rested on the couch and slept until the sun came up.
After waking up, he hurriedly washed up. Then he took his suitcase, which he had already packed some time ago, and went out with Angela.
The hotel was very close to the university, so it only took them ten minutes to walk there.
After entering the university, they made their way to the interview site.
Angela took out her admission ticket and ID card and waited to be called for the interview. The interview included a self-introduction and a self-assessment.
As she quietly recited her self-introduction, Lisa suddenly stood up. “Where’s my ID card, and my ticket, have you seen them, Angela?”.
Angela pursed her lips and replied arrogantly, “Why are you asking me about your lost ID card? It’s not like I stole it.”
“That’s not what I meant…” Lisa was so scared she was about to burst into tears. She rummaged through her purse again, but still couldn’t find her ID card. Finally, she said, “Give me the hotel key card, Angela. I’m going back to get it.”
Angela raised her eyebrows and handed him the key card.
Lisa took the key card and ran toward the hotel anxiously.
After running out, Angela suddenly got up and went to the bathroom. Then, she took Lisa’s ticket and ID card out of her pocket and threw them in the wastebasket.
When she was done, she came out of the bathroom feeling refreshed and invigorated.
Soon it was her turn for the interview.noveldrama
Angela entered the room and noticed that Director Shaw was not among the four interviewers today. Well, that made sense. After all, why would a physician of Director Shaw’s level attend interviews like this?
Nevertheless, Angela dutifully sat down. When asked if she had a preferred mentor, Angela smiled and replied, “Yes, I’ve already spoken to Director Shaw.”
Everyone present realized what she was implying.
The interviews were usually straightforward and easy to clarify. Although Angela’s answers were unsatisfactory, in the end all four teachers gave her the thumbs up.
As Angela left the room, she happened to see a breathless Lisa running back from the hotel.
She was talking to the person in charge of the interview. She said, “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, but this interview means a lot to me, can you let me go to the interview first?”.
The clerk sighed and replied, “If you had lost only the admission ticket, I could have used your ID card to print one for you at the last minute. But since you’ve lost even that, I can’t help you. Please don’t make things difficult for me, miss? You can still try again next year…”
Lisa’s eyes were red. “But that means I would have lost a whole year. Please, sir, can you help me ask the superiors if they can make an exception? I like this college very much. I came all the way from California to New York for this…”
Seeing her cry so pitifully, the clerk relented. Just as she was about to say something, Angela came over and said gruffly, “Lisa, the most important quality a doctor must possess is meticulousness. What are you making a fuss here for if you can’t even get your admission ticket and ID card right for an exam? Besides, will you only realize that you’ve forgotten your scalpel when you’re already on the operating table?”
Her words made the staff member’s heart harden again.
Angela grabbed Lisa’s arm and dragged her away. “Stop embarrassing yourself here and come with me instead!”
A dejected Lisa followed her. However, as she was heading towards the entrance, she suddenly noticed a familiar looking jeep parked there ….
