Chapter 163
Chapter 163:.
The police were shocked when they heard. They asked, “Who exactly was it that called the police just now?”.
Before Melissa could speak, Wendy started crying. She said, “Now that you’re here, sir, you have to help us! Henry and I are her parents, but she refuses to acknowledge us! The Andersons have stolen our daughter from us.”
The policemen frowned and looked back at the Andersons. They asked, “What’s going on?”
Nora, however, did not answer them in a timely manner.
She just stared at the policeman leading the team. Dressed in a police uniform, his posture was tall and straight like an erect spear.
Nora sensed that he was not a simple person.
Although the policemen behind him also behaved very professionally, they felt much more relaxed compared to him. The difference was like that of soldiers who had gone through life and death on the battlefield with soldiers who had remained in privileged conditions.
The policeman leading the team had a clenched jaw and looked exceptionally resolute and determined.
Those behind him followed. Someone said, “Captain Ford, I think these are family matters. A little persuasion should suffice…”
Before he could finish, however, the man he was addressing as Captain Ford scowled, causing the other policeman to immediately shut up in fright.
Seeing this, Henry immediately shouted, “Sir, are one’s children obliged to support their aged parents?”
Ford pursed his lips tightly. He spoke very little, but nevertheless calmly replied, “Yes, they are.”
Henry continued. “In that case, if the children don’t fulfill their obligation to support their elderly parents, can I file a police report!”.
Ford looked at Nora again. She looked down and replied, “Yes, you can.”
Henry pointed to Nora and said, “She’s my daughter, but she refuses to acknowledge us anymore. What should we do about it, sir? Shouldn’t she be brought in and ordered to undergo therapy?”
Ford’s lips were tightly pressed together and his hard countenance was full of righteousness. He didn’t just listen to her one-sided assertions, instead, he looked at Nora. “What do you have to say?”
Nora couldn’t help but find the so-called ‘Captain Ford’ a little strange.
She lowered her gaze dispassionately and replied unhurriedly, “It’s only fair that children support their parents!”
Henry breathed a sigh of relief when she said that.
From the looks of her, she must have finally freaked out at the sight of the police, right?noveldrama
Henry let out a self-deprecating chuckle.
Wendy also breathed a sigh of relief. After all, this was New York; they had no contacts here. To be honest, she also feared that the Andersons would use their power to intimidate them. So, she smiled and said, “You might as well look at it this way, Nora.”
Roxanne also breathed a sigh of relief. She said, “In that case, why don’t we sit down and talk about how Miss Smith, as your daughter, should support her parents? Let’s get everything straight today, so that things can be done more conveniently later.”
Melissa and Simon didn’t expect Nora to suddenly give in.
They exchanged a glance. However, they felt that since it was Nora’s choice, they should respect her decision. After all, when it came to things like family ties, those who were not the people involved could never know for sure how they felt.
Henry was still Nora’s father, after all. If he really couldn’t let go of his blood ties, then it couldn’t be helped.
Everyone had different ways of thinking. Even if they didn’t agree with Nora’s decision, they couldn’t make the decision on her behalf either. After thinking about it, Melissa merely said, “If so, let’s talk about it inside.”
Since even Nora had given in, then they too had to change their attitude accordingly.
Henry and Wendy exchanged a glance. Then, they started walking toward the door. When they reached the door, they couldn’t help but look at Melissa and say, “If you had known this was going to happen, why bother being so aggressive and kicking us out yesterday?”
The couple’s eyes were full of triumphalism.
However, Nora blocked them at the door the next moment. The corners of her lips curved upward and she said, “You two can’t come in.”
Henry and Wendy, “?”
Even Roxanne was dumbfounded. She asked, “What does this mean, Ms. Smith, didn’t you just say it’s only fair that children support their parents? Are you going back on your word so fast?”
Nora looked down. She replied, “Children should support their parents. However, why should I support someone who has no blood ties to me?”
As soon as she said that, Henry’s eyes snapped open in surprise.
Wendy was also taken aback. She, who obviously knew nothing about this, looked at Henry in disbelief. “What’s Nora talking about, Henry?”
Henry swallowed hard. He said, “You worthless daughter! How could you tell such a lie so you wouldn’t have to support us? You really are my daughter.”
Nora kept her eyes down. She didn’t waste her breath on him. Instead, she opened the electronic file of the DNA test report on her cell phone and held it in Henry’s face!
Henry, “!”
He stared at the report in shock. Suddenly, he thought of the sharp pain he had felt in his scalp as he was leaving the Andersons’ house the night before…. Could that be it…?
But how could it be?
Why should she have any doubts about it? However, if she hadn’t done it, was there any normal person who would take a DNA test?
However, she was not to admit it at all.
She was quick to shout, “The report is false! It’s definitely false!”
Fake?
Nora’s lips curved into a smile and she ignored him. Instead, she looked at Roxanne and said, “Roxanne, you’re a journalist, so you must be very knowledgeable and know a lot. You must know this DNA testing lab, right?”.
ZS was the best-known DNA testing lab overseas. Its qualifications were beyond question because it was owned by Anti.
Roxanne looked at Henry immediately when she saw the lab’s logo.

At the hospital.
Ian had been watching the live feed intently the whole time.
When the girl said “It’s only fair that children support their parents!”, he couldn’t help but twist his lip in distaste.
After all, she was nothing more than a daughter Yvette had with someone else. Although she looked like her, she wasn’t her. All in all, she still had her father’s cowardly nature and had actually given in at a time like this.
Ian frowned and decided to exit the live feed.
However, it was at this point that Nora said “Why should I keep someone who has no blood ties to me?”. Thinking that this was Nora’s way of dodging the issue, he even admired her cleverness.
After all, by saying that, the focus of the incident would change from a daughter refusing to support her elderly parents, to whether or not she really was their daughter.
Like Yvette, she was very cunning and shrewd.
Ian looked down. The idea had just formed in his mind when Nora brandished the DNA test report.
The cameraman pointed the camera right at the cell phone, allowing everyone to see the screen clearly!
Nora Smith… She was indeed not Henry’s daughter!
Ian suddenly sat up straight, His eyes seemed to glow at this instant as he stared at the live feed on his cell phone!
Yes… If it wasn’t Henry’s daughter….
Then who did Yvette have her with?!
Could it be…?
Ian flung open the quilt covering him and made a move to get out of bed. However, the nurse at the door rushed over and pressed his shoulders. “What are you doing, Mr. Smith?”
Ian was so agitated that his eyes were getting red and wet.
He said, “Joel! Get Joel.”
The nurse nodded immediately. “Okay, we’ll get him right away, can you lie down first, please?”
Ian lay back down.
He stared at the ceiling. There was only one thought on his mind at the moment:
Could it be his daughter!
