Chapter 187
Chapter 187:
Cherry, “?”
Were they asking him if he had ever played?
Kid, are you sure you’re not kidding, he thought.
He looked at the cell phone in his hands: it was his brother’s. To prevent anyone from discovering that they had switched places, they always switched cell phones with each other.
To play his game, he had prepared two cell phones for her. The one she had brought was her brother’s, so the game was not installed on it. She said, “Give me a moment, I have to download the game first!”.
Fatty nodded. “Okay, hurry up.”
Cherry nodded and stretched out her chubby little finger. She nimbly tapped a couple of times on the cell phone and started the download.
On the other end, Chester panicked.
After all, he was on his little nephew’s side.
So, he rushed over and said, “What are you playing at? I’ll help you.”
Fatty knew that this uncle of his was very good at games, and even broadcast them live. If he helped them in the game, it definitely wouldn’t highlight Pete’s stupidity.
Fatty’s eyes swiveled around. Then, he smiled and said, “Pete has never played this game, so I’m sure he’ll have a hard time getting started. Why don’t we do a PvP battle with each other first? That way he can familiarize himself with the game as well.”
PvP battles refer to one-on-one, player-versus-player combat in the game.
When a player lost all of their life points, their character would die.
Fatty thought that Pete would definitely not be familiar with the game, since it was his first time playing it. So couldn’t he easily wreck the other party and take several lives? If he got a kill ratio of zero to several dozen, Dad and Grandpa would definitely praise him!
He could also take the opportunity to show everyone present that he, Fatty, was the most outstanding child of this generation of the Hunts.
Chester used to be a bit of a fool, but nevertheless he instantly understood the seven- or eight-year-old’s intentions.
He said anxiously, “No, that won’t do!”.
“Why not?” asked Fatty.
Chester coughed and said, “Who would ask for a PvP battle to begin with? I don’t think it would be fair to Pete.”
Fatty pleaded his case and said, “It’s not unfair. This would also allow us to see Pete’s level, after all. Are you afraid to have a PvP battle with me, Pete?”
Cherry, who was downloading the game at the time, looked up with her big round eyes as she heard him.
She blinked and replied, “Sure, no problem!”.
Her young and tender voice could practically make one melt.
His voice made Mrs. Hunt feel as if someone had just dipped her heart in honey. She beckoned to him and said, “We won’t play with him if you don’t want to, Pete! Come to Great-Grandma instead.”
Cherry bowed her head and looked at Mrs. Hunt. Seeing the look on the old lady’s face, she smiled sweetly and said, “He’ll be fine, Great-Grandma!”.
Mrs. Hunt shook her head and said earnestly, “It’s not good to immerse yourself in games. Look at Chester; didn’t everyone object to him playing?”.
Raymond laughed and said, “It’s not like Fatty plays it as a profession. He’s just cultivating the mind and spirit. Besides, I’ve heard that games can also train a child’s ability to concentrate, so it’s not necessarily all bad. Smart kids will always master everything at once, no matter what they do.”
A smiling Roger also said, “Don’t worry, Grandma. Pete has always been smart since he was a baby. He has a very high IQ, so a little play will be no problem for him.”
Roger then looked at Fatty and said, “Have a little mercy on your cousin.”
Fatty smiled and replied, “No problem Dad!”.
Seeing her confidence, Roger suddenly suggested, “It’s certainly not very appropriate to focus only on the games. Why don’t we make a bet?”.
Raymond immediately spoke up in favor of the suggestion. He said, “That’s a good idea! Otherwise, the kids won’t be motivated to win either! Why don’t we make a bet? If Fatty loses, I’ll give up 1% of my shares in the company, how about that?”
1% of your shares?
That was going too far!noveldrama
The Hunts’ assets were worth billions of dollars. Even if she only owned 20% of the company’s stock, 1% of that 20% was still worth several million dollars.
Mrs. Hunt’s expression darkened. “The kids are just playing games. That’s a lot at stake Raymond.”
“What’s the problem?”
Raymond approached Mrs. Hunt with a smile and took her by the arm. The man was well into his fifties, but he was acting like a child. He said, “We’re just having fun, Mom! Besides, we’re a family. It doesn’t matter who owns the shares. I’m sure Justin will be up to the challenge, right?”.
Justin looked down and said, “Are you talking about 1% of the stock in the company or 1% of your stock in the company, Uncle Raymond?”
Raymond was taken aback for a moment.
Justin scoffed, “Since you want to have some fun, let’s up the ante – how about 1% of the company’s stock?”
Given the profitability of Hunt Corporation stock, 1% of the company’s stock would be a transfer of billions of dollars in profits.
The stakes were too high.
Who would gamble tens of billions of dollars on a single bet?
Raymond’s expression darkened. He unconsciously looked at Roger.
Roger smiled and said, “Since Justin said so, then let’s do that.”
Raymond wanted to say something, but Roger tugged at his sleeve, lowered his voice and said, “Justin must have suddenly upped the ante because he thinks you won’t stand to part with that much money, so you definitely won’t dare go through with the bet!”
Raymond immediately understood what Roger meant.
So Justin was waging psychological warfare with him.
He let out a cold laugh and exchanged a glance with Roger. Then he lowered his voice and asked, “Are you sure Pete never played that game?”
Roger nodded. “He’s always studying every day, so how could he have time to play? He only downloaded it once in California and played one afternoon there, but uninstalled it afterwards. I’m sure he doesn’t know how to play.”
Raymond looked again at his little grandson.
Fatty was between seven and eight this year, he was very good at games.
The Hunts were very smart. Wouldn’t it be easy for Fatty to bully a five-year-old?
Besides, no matter how smart a kid was, he would still have to become familiar with how the game worked before he became an expert at any game. The time Pete would need meant that victory was in Fatty’s hands.
So, Raymond immediately smiled and said, “Sure, Justin. I’ll bet 1% of the company’s stock – how about you?”
Justin was about to speak when Raymond suddenly added, “You’re the Head of Hunt Corporation, so I can’t ask for your shares either, can I? How about this? If Fatty is lucky enough to win, you’ll give me the ring Mom gave Pete just now! This request isn’t too much, is it?”
At first glance, when comparing stocks worth billions of dollars to a ring worth millions of dollars, it seemed that Raymond would lose out on the deal.
However, one could make billions of dollars, but the ring was priceless!
Besides, it was not just a ring, it was also something that symbolized the wife of the next head of the family!
Raymond had certainly understood it all.
Mrs. Hunt was immediately furious. She said, “How can you gamble with each other when the children are playing at home? Besides, that’s a gift from me, how can you transfer it to someone else?”.
Raymond looked at her and said, “How can you be so biased, Mom? Why didn’t you say we were going too far when I offered my stock worth billions of dollars? Or is it because…. Justin can’t bring himself to take the bet with me?”.
