“The pleasure’s mine,” Allison replied politely, holding his gaze.

“As the arbiter, I will oversee the wager between the two ladies,” Kylo announced, his calm voice commanding attention. “If there are no objections, we can begin now.”

Amor responded with a warm smile. “No objections at all.” But Allison’s gaze sharpened. “If I win this wager, would I have the privilege of challenging you to a game, Mr. Vargas?” Her words silenced the entire room.

Kylo was a legend in gambling circles, unbeaten and nearly mythical. No one dared challenge him.

A soft chuckle escaped Kylo’s lips. “Scarlet Snake, you certainly are… unique.”

From the crowd, Fay rolled her eyes. “Such arrogance! You must be desperate for fame,” she said with an exasperated laugh. “Mr. Vargas is only here as the referee by sheer luck. Otherwise, someone like you would never have a chance to speak to him!” The onlookers snickered, exchanging amused glances. To them, Allison looked like just another woman trying to get close to Kylo.

Andres’ eyes glinted with mockery. “Scarlet Snake, reaching for the stars isn’t always wise.” He was surprised by the woman’s brazen declaration that she intended to confront the chairman.

But Allison remained unflustered. “Oh? Can you decide on Kylo’s behalf?”

Andres fell silent, his smirk fading.

Allison returned her gaze to Kylo, waiting calmly for his answer. “Well? What do you think?”

Kylo studied her, a flicker of intrigue passing through his usually impenetrable gaze. There was something oddly familiar, almost kindred, about this woman. Interesting.

“Perhaps,” he said finally, crossing his hands with an amused smile. “But you’ll have to survive first.”

“Then it’s settled,” Allison replied smoothly, stepping toward the gaming table without a second glance.

The crowd exchanged bewildered looks, and Andres quickly seized the moment, whipping up the room’s energy.noveldrama

“Today’s contenders are Scarlet Snake and Amor,” he announced. “They’ve signed a do-or-die agreement with stakes of ten million. Place your bets!”

The casino was alive with excitement, with nearly everyone crowding around the betting tables, eagerly tossing out wagers.

“Amor’s undefeated in any wager! I’m all in!”

“Twenty-eight thousand on Amor — she’s a sure win!”

“Well, I think Scarlet Snake might pull a surprise. Four thousand on her!”

“Four thousand? I’m putting forty thousand on Amor!” Few seemed to believe in Allison, and the odds against her skyrocketed, nearing one to a hundred.

Yet Allison sat poised and tranquil, as if the murmuring crowd didn’t exist, waiting for the dealer to finish shuffling the cards. Meanwhile, more people drifted into the casino, drawn by the thrill.
