Shrouded Affections Winning Back My CEO Wife

Chapter 1212

Chapter 1212:

“I don’t want to accept this job,” Milford decisively stated as he tossed the card into the trash. “Barry, thanks for everything lately, but I need to leave now.”

“What will you do if you leave?” Barry asked, concern evident in his tone.

“I’ve got an idea. The construction site is swarming with workers. Mr. Dawson might inspect my company, but he won’t scrutinize every employee. I’ve been here for years and still have accounts to collect. How about you help me with that?” Milford suggested. Observing Milford’s attire, Barry added, “You can’t do that in these clothes. If you agree, I’ll take you shopping for a new outfit right away.”

Milford felt uneasy about the task. Unfamiliar with such a job, he feared making a mistake.

Seeing Milford’s hesitation, Barry quickly explained, “This job is challenging. It’s tough getting the balance of payments from those construction sites. Sometimes, you will succeed after several visits, but some payments take a year or two to come through. It’s a difficult role, and I can’t leave it to just anyone. I need you to handle it because I trust you.”

“Okay,” Milford replied, understanding the situation. He was aware that Bryan already knew that he was in Esterford.

The nature of the job, requiring him to move frequently, suited him well since he couldn’t remain stationary for long.

Barry took Milford to a nearby shopping mall and purchased two suits of mature clothing. With a buzz cut and tanned skin, Milford looked more like a seasoned enforcer than a man in his early twenties, fitting the part well for debt collection.

Meanwhile, far from Esterford, Adalina was being forcibly guided by Aaron, the men’s wardrobe manager.

“I understand you want to choose a birthday gift for your father,” Aaron said. “But why did you—”

Before she could finish speaking, she caught sight of a familiar face nearby.

Was that Milford?

Adalina’s heart skipped a beat. She broke free from Aaron’s grip and hurried after the figure.noveldrama

“Adalina, wait! I need some advice. I saw your dad’s suits and thought you could help me pick something out,” Aaron called after her. He quickly caught up with her and blocked her path.

Adalina, clearly frustrated, pushed him away. “I can’t help you, Aaron. My dad’s clothes? My mom picks them out. And trust me, she doesn’t care about my opinion.”

She barely finished speaking before continuing her chase, but the figure had vanished.

Anxiety filled her as she scanned the crowd. Her heart sank. “What’s going on?” Aaron noticed her strange behavior. “What are you looking for?”

Adalina sighed, shaking her head. “I thought I saw someone—an old classmate. But I guess I was wrong.”

Aaron glanced around and shrugged. “Must’ve been. Who our age buys suits anyway? People who come here are at least thirty.” His words made sense.

Adalina forced a weak smile. Was Milford released from prison? And even if he was, he had no family. He wouldn’t be here picking clothes for his relatives. Adalina believed she must have been mistaken.
