“Jarred mentioned Stella’s health issues when she insisted on a paternity test last time,” Bryan explained calmly. “She suffers from a mental condition common in the elderly, which makes her overly emotional. It’s incurable. I asked Jarred to keep an eye on her and update me if anything happens.”

So, Bryan had been aware of Stella’s visit as soon as it occurred. Jarred hadn’t known the reason for Stella’s visit, and thus hadn’t informed Bryan about it. That was why Bryan now narrowed his gaze, scrutinizing Eileen.

Eileen met his gaze calmly. “It’s nothing major, just anxious about not providing an heir for the Dawson family.”

Bryan said without hesitation, “Of course, you need to have—”

Eileen rolled her eyes at him to shut him up, recognizing his underlying motive. Bryan’s push for a second child was less about family and more about his desire to have sex with her. How would she get pregnant if he always made sure to use protection before she even mentioned it?

“So why don’t you just toss all the condoms out of the bedroom now?” Eileen raised an eyebrow.

Bryan frowned, replying seriously, “That would be a waste! We have about a thousand left. What do you think about this? Once we use them all up, I won’t buy more.”

“Get lost!” Eileen shot back.

“As long as you cooperate, a year will be sufficient for us to use all the condoms we have,” Bryan said, pulling her close and pressing her against the closet. His fresh scent surrounded her, but his expression was serious, as if he were discussing a matter of great importance.

Bryan was momentarily at a loss for words. He placed his hand on her waist, giving it two deliberate pinches. “Are you doubting me?”

“Not at all,” Eileen quickly replied. Raising three fingers, she declared with a firm tone, “You’ve got to believe me. After all, I’ve only been with you. I wouldn’t know how to compare a man’s endurance, but if I had to guess, yours probably doesn’t match that of a guy in his early twenties.” With that, Eileen fled before Bryan could react.

Bryan didn’t give chase.
