Shrouded Affections Winning Back My CEO Wife

Chapter 1230

Chapter 1230:

As soon as they entered the company, Bryan’s phone buzzed. When he pulled it out, Eileen caught a glimpse of the screen—it was Raymond calling.

Before she could say anything, Raymond stepped out, briskly walking toward them.

“Well, isn’t this convenient?” Eileen smiled, glancing between the two men. When she saw that Raymond didn’t cancel the call, she asked, “Why are you calling him? Shouldn’t you discuss work matters with me?”

Raymond, still clutching his phone, scrambled for an explanation. “Uh, yeah… I, uh, dialed by mistake. Meant to call you.”

Eileen raised an eyebrow. “And why exactly did you need to call?”

Raymond replied, “I was going to ask you where Mr. Dawson was.”

Eileen glanced at Bryan, who was avoiding eye contact, pretending to scroll through his phone.

Eileen jabbed Bryan with her elbow. Bryan looked up, feigning ignorance.

“What’s wrong?”

“Funny story,” Eileen said. “Raymond wanted to find you but thought he should call me first to ask where you were. Then, he somehow ended up calling you instead!”

“Oh, right! I, uh, suddenly remembered I have a client I’m supposed to meet,” Raymond hurriedly put his phone into his pocket, glanced at his watch, and rushed toward the exit. “I’m running late. I should leave now.” He was gone in a flash.

Eileen pursed her lips. Without waiting for Bryan’s excuse, she said, “Aren’t you leaving too? He’s waiting for you outside.”

Bryan sighed. “Raymond has been slipping up lately. Probably made a mistake and doesn’t want to own up to it. I’ll go see what’s going on.”

Even though Eileen had seen right through him, Bryan stuck to his story and made a quick exit.

Eileen watched Bryan hurry off. After a moment’s thought, she quietly slipped into the elevator, but instead of going up, she headed straight for the underground parking garage. When she pulled out, she saw Bryan standing beside Raymond’s car.

Raymond hurriedly exited the building, straightening up as he called out, “Mr. Dawson.”

“Let’s cut to the chase,” Bryan said, narrowing his eyes while glancing around the area.

Eileen pulled up at the corner, stepping out of the car. As luck would have it, she was out of view of both Raymond and Bryan, allowing her to sneak quietly around to the rear of their vehicle.

“There’s been a mistake with a seal on one of the contracts, which means we could end up losing about a hundred thousand dollars,” Raymond said.

“Is that it?” Bryan scoffed. “You really think Eileen is that petty? A hundred grand could just be deducted from your paycheck. Why are you so worried? Did you really need to bother me with this?”noveldrama

Raymond stood there awkwardly, his arms hanging at his sides, silently enduring Bryan’s scolding.

Eileen folded her arms and leaned against the car, quietly taking it all in. Eventually, her patience wore thin, and she marched over, giving Bryan a sharp pinch in the waist.
