Chapter 830
After being kicked out of the hospital, Victoria waited anxiously for news, pacing restlessly in her room, but none came.
So much time had passed, yet still no news?
If Yvette had actually botched the operation and killed the old hag, there would have been word by now!
Victoria couldn't resist taking out her phone and calling Jimmy.
The call connected quickly, and Victoria asked gently, "Mr. Lacroix, how's Mrs. Quinn Senior doing? Wilson wouldn't let me go to the hospital, but I'm truly worried about her!"noveldrama
"I don't know what the situation is at the hospital now, Ms. Olson," Jimmy answered dejectedly. "Mr. Quinn has already dismissed me, so I no longer have the right to stay."
"What?" Victoria was taken aback. Then, her expression turned dark.
Wilson had always respected those who had served Martha, yet now he'd driven out someone who had loyally stayed by the old hag's side for so long!
It must have been because of Yvette!
The more Victoria thought about it, the more jealous she became, her gaze growing venomous. "Mr. Lacroix, you've served Mrs. Quinn Senior for so many years. Even if it wasn't all smooth sailing, you've been dedicated to her. How could Wilson dismiss you so suddenly?"
"I don't know either!" Jimmy's voice grew even more disheartened.
The Quinn family offered the best pay in the entire city, and at his age, he had nowhere else to go!
"Wilson isn't one to be so ruthless. Maybe Yvie got upset, thinking you were meddling in the Quinn family matters. After all, she is Wilson's fiancée, and so she took her anger out on you."
Jimmy's anger spiked at her words, and his impression of Yvette plummeted. He was seething.
"That must be it. Before Yvette came back, I was doing fine working for the Quinn family. But as soon as she returned, I was dismissed. She must have made Mr. Quinn do this. How vile of her!"
A pleased smile played at the corners of Victoria's lips as she listened to the insults against Yvette. Pretending to sound considerate, she said, "Mr. Lacroix, don't worry. When Mrs. Quinn Senior wakes up, I'll ask her to invite you back to the manor."
Jimmy was deeply moved by her words. "Ms. Olson, you're so kind. It would have been so wonderful if you were the one engaged to Mr. Quinn!"
Indeed. It would have been wonderful if she were the one engaged to Wilson...
The cold, sinister light in Victoria's eyes almost seeped out. She had to get rid of that obstacle, Yvette.
Wilson would belong only to her!
The next morning, as soon as Yvette opened her eyes and looked around, she recognized the familiar bedroom-it belonged to a certain sly fox.
"Baby, you're awake?"
Hearing movement in the room, Wilson entered, his strikingly handsome face softened with warmth.
Yvette nodded. Still a bit groggy from sleep, her eyes were hazy and misty, making her look even more endearing.
Wilson couldn't resist pulling her into his arms and placing a gentle kiss on her delicate earlobe. His deep, magnetic voice sent a tingling
warmth to her ears. fo
"Baby, do you want to sleep a little longer?"
"No, I'm awake." Yvette shook her head, then asked, "Is Grandma awake?"
"I just got word from the hospital. She's awake."
As he answered her question, Wilson carried her into the bathroom.
Yvette bit her lip. "If Grandma is awake, why didn't you wake me up?"
"Because I couldn't bear to," Wilson answered, looking at her with a gaze that was intense yet tender.
His voice was gentle as he
explained, "You were so tired, so I wanted you to sleep a bit longer. Besides, Grandma only just woke up. The hospital said last night's surgery went very well, and she's no longer in any serious condition. She just needs to rest and recover."
