Book 3 Chapter 40.
Maverick POV.
Looking at the black-and-white image in my hand. I smile as I look at our baby. Harmony is nearly nine weeks pregnant and I'm amazed at the little life we created. With its head, legs, arms, and spine. The OBGYN told us our baby is the same size as a strawberry right now. So tiny. But no matter, our baby looked perfect and healthy.
God even hearing the rapid whooshing of our baby's heartbeat brought tears to not only mine but Harmony's eyes. The OBGYN gave us a lot of information to take home and read one being a pregnancy diary. A week-to-week guide of what our baby will be like and how it will be developing. I'm on cloud fucking nine right now and nothing can shake this feeling.
But then I feel guilty because I didn't experience this with Melody. I feel like a piece of shit for not being there for her. Hell, if I had known Felicity was pregnant, I would have been there every step of the way. Regardless of my feelings for the woman.
All I can do is be there for Melody and make sure she is as much included in this journey as she should be. God above, when Melody sees this picture, she is going to freak the fuck out. I chuckle as I stare at the image.
We headed to the clubhouse when we left the hospital. I wanted to head to the baby store, but Harmony held me and my credit card hostage. She told me to wait until we knew what we were having and to not jinx anything. She is right, of course. She did tell me once we were past the fourteen week mark, then I can go nuts. Her words. I one hundred percent intent to.
But I have already been adding things to my shopping basket online for our baby. The stroller, car seat, cot, blankets, clothes, hell, even the diapers. I know I'm getting ahead of myself and I'm losing control, but one look at Harmony and she is the picture of calm and she has her shit in line but me, not so much.
I'm the man and it is my job to make sure my woman and kids have everything their heart's desire. No matter the cost or extravagance. If they want it, they shall have it. No questions asked unless it is something really silly, like an elephant or a helicopter. Then no.noveldrama
hospital
Little did I know Harmony had thought of ever ing before appointment today. Michelle had bought over a teddy bear in cellophane wrap. In between its legs was a photo frame. I watched as Harmony unwrapped the wrapping and slide out the photo frame and took out her scan pictures and cut one off before sliding it into the frame and placing it back and wrapping it up again.
It is only then that I notice the stitching on the feet of the bear. It reads.
To the best big sister. On the left foot and on the right. I can't wait to meet you XX.
My heart squeezes. Could this woman get any more perfect? Of course she could, and I know I am one lucky son of a bitch that Harmony is mine.
She thought of everything and I know Melody is going to lose it and I smile. I can't wait to see her little face light up, knowing this was her first gift from the baby and she will love and cherish it. I know Melody will be an amazing big sister, she like Harmony, is loved by everyone and she loves everyone. Hell, she even commands the other kids just like Harmony can.
I know when Melody is older, I will be beating the boys off with a stick, and I know some of, if not all, of the club members will be the same. Hell, even Lucky is very protective of her.
Speaking of Lucky, he is going to be starting his MC soon and I can't wait to see what he does with it. I know when the time comes for him to move on, Melody is going to be crushed, but I hope he will come and visit her often. Or we can go and visit him.
Savage has been helping Lucky with finding a suitable area, and Lucky is eager to learn. He is nothing like his father or mother for that matter and that will make him a great president. He has morals and would never hurt the innocent, not like Hank did.
I look at Harmony as she is talking to Hound. Her dads are working. Dante is the head of the Fanucci family and Scythe is the president of POD. I know Scythe will be stepping down soon and the weight of the club will be on Wild Child's shoulders.
But Wild Child or Harry won't have to worry too much about fucking it up. He will have all of us to help share the load and no doubt he will rope in Harmony to go over the club finances. The guy is handy in a fight but put paperwork in front of him and he is sweating like he has been asked to solve quantum physics with no help.
Harmony sees me watching her. I always have eyes on her, and she knows it. From the first time I saw her in her shop. I saw the way she would sneak glances at me with pens in her hair to the blush that could paint her cheeks a delicate pink colour. To the way she would bite her bottom lip.
I knew then and there she was it for me. But in true Outlaw fashion, I fumbled over my words and made a right tit out of myself. But Harmony didn't mind. I think she found it cute. Me, cute. Now that is laughable. A guy my size being a nomad before I became a member. She finds cute.
She smiles at me, giving me a playful wink before she kisses Hound on the cheek and walks towards me. Her hips swaying and her long blonde hair swishing gently behind her. I swallow the lump in my throat and sort my jeans out to hide what she does to me. Hell, she doesn't even need to try. I'm hard as a rock for her.
She sits next to me and leans her head on my shoulder. I wrap my arm around her shoulder and kiss her head.
"You tired baby?" I ask her because from what I have read pregnant women get tired easily. It is draining growing another life. She shakes her head.
"Do I need a reason to just want to be near you?" she asks, and I chuckle. "No, of course you don't. I like having you near me. I love you Harmony and all I want is you to be happy." I tell her my truth and she chuckles as she turns her head and sits up, looking at me with those honey-coloured eyes of hers that look right through me to my very soul.
"I love you too, Mav. Thank you." She says and I look at her, confused.
"What are you thanking me for?" I ask her with a nervous chuckle, and she smiles at me.
"For making me a mommy, not just to our baby, but to Melody. I never thought my life was missing something, not until you and Melody came into it. I was missing my own family, and you gave that to me. I am grateful you have trusted me not only with your heart but with your little girl," she tells me and damn, is there dust in the air? My eyes water with tears.
"No, thank you. You have showed Melody and me what true love is, and I will never let anything or anyone come between us." I tell her and she kisses me on the lips, her hands against my cheeks as my hand moves to the back of her neck.
Deepening the kiss when then I hear the sounds of the kids coming back from school. The lockdown was lifted and everything has gone back to normal. We break apart and I look from Harmony's eyes to her swollen red lips. I kiss her quickly when I hear Melody squeal.
"Looks like she is back." I tell Harmony and she chuckles as she turns in her seat to see Melody standing there, hands on her hips, tapping her foot, looking pissed.
"Daddy, why is mommy not at home resting?" Harmony takes a jiggered gasp at Melody's words and I look at Harmony and the tears are flowing down her cheeks. Oh shit! Does Harmony feel like a prisoner? Is it because Melody is saying she should be at home? I'm ready to tell Melody that Harmony can go where she needs to go and she can't be in the house all the time.
"She just, she just called me mommy. Oh Mav, she called me mommy."
