Chapter 925
Chapter 925:
Now fully dressed, Ernest stepped out once more, his eyes meeting Linda’s with a trace of discomfort.
“Ernest,” she said, brushing past the moment with ease. “Come eat. The doctor’s due for rounds soon.”
“Right,” he said, though a quiet tension settled over them.
Forty-eight hours had slipped by, and Eric still lay unresponsive.
Three days had already gone by with Eric trapped in an unyielding coma.
Seventy-two long hours had passed. Not even a flicker of consciousness.
The doctor had come in again, checked his vitals, and stepped back with a deep frown and a slow shake of his head.
Ernest’s heart sank with a deep sorrow; the scenario he dreaded most seemed to have just unfolded.
“Why are you shaking your head like that?” Overcome with distress, Linda confronted the doctor, her eyes fiery and tear-stained. “You have the expertise. Isn’t there anything within your power to awaken him?”
“Miss Harris.” The doctor let out a long breath. “I’ve exhausted all possible medical interventions. Now, it’s in Mr. Flynn’s hands to fight through.”
“That’s absurd!” Linda’s voice rose sharply in anger. “If you’re useless, just say so! The Flynn family has money. We can hire someone better. You’re fired!”
Without waiting, she spun around and gripped Ernest’s arm. “Fire him, Ernest! Get rid of him now and bring in someone who actually knows what they’re doing!”
“Mr. Flynn…” The doctor’s voice trembled with fear as he turned to Ernest.
“Linda!” Ernest grabbed her wrist, holding her steady. “You need to calm down. This isn’t going to help Eric.”
Linda’s resolve wavered as she murmured, “What else is there to do?” Abruptly, she bolted to Eric’s side, seized his collar, and began to shake him forcefully. “Eric! Wake up! Why are you just lying here? The rival family is rejoicing in this! The Scott family wants you gone—are you really going to let them win? Get up! I can’t bear to see you this way! Stand and confront the Scotts! You’re grown now; you’ve got this! Get up, get up!”

Soon, Linda was both weeping and yelling, her hands thumping against Eric’s motionless form. The medical team stood by in shock.
“Linda!” Ernest rushed to her, clasping her arm firmly. “Stop this! You’re only causing him more suffering.”
“Then tell me what we’re supposed to do!” Linda raised her tear-filled eyes. “We’re the ones closest to him! We’ve stayed with him night and day, and the doctor claims he’s physically stable. Why does he remain asleep?”
Ernest averted his eyes, choosing silence.
“Ernest!” In despair, Linda flung herself into his embrace. “What should we do now?”
“He’ll wake up, I believe it,” Ernest said, trying to reassure both Linda and himself.
At Millland Road, after the morning meal, Melba was eager to clean up. “You all relax; I’ve got the kitchen.”
Lately, Hadley had taken over most of the cooking, and Melba had begun to feel uneasy about it.
“Thanks, Melba.” Hadley smiled.
“There’s no need for thanks—it’s what I’m here for.”
