Chapter 928
Chapter 928:
In fact, Ernest hadn’t snapped the picture of Hadley—it was aimed at the other woman… Elissa!
Linda couldn’t pinpoint Elissa’s exact position in the frame now, but she was convinced it was her—no doubt about it!
That professional sketching pencil only cemented her suspicion. The revelation jolted her. All this time, the person she’d been chasing had been right there, practically under her nose!
“Ernest, you’ve kept this buried deep, haven’t you?” she murmured.
At the hospital, the doctor finished examining Elissa and scribbled a prescription.
“You got here just in time. It’s nothing major—just be sure to rest up,” the doctor said with a light chuckle. “Holiday season, huh? Staying up too late? Even if you can’t see, your eyes still need a break.”
So, it was late nights that had worn her down.
Elissa gave a sheepish smile. “Thanks, doctor. I’ll keep that in mind.”
“My fault,” Hadley said, guilt creeping in as she hooked her arm through Elissa’s, guiding her out of the room. “I didn’t think about that. Let’s go back and get some rest.”
“Sounds good,” Elissa replied, but then leaned closer, lowering her voice. “Ernest seems to be in a bad mood. Eric still hasn’t woken up, has he?”
Hadley hesitated. “Probably not.”
“Poor guy,” Elissa murmured with a faint sigh. “Let’s hope he pulls through.”
Ernest emerged later, likely lingering to discuss surgery details with the doctor.

Linda’s mind wandered during the ride home. Stepping inside, she snapped to attention, bounding up to the second floor and storming into Ernest’s room.
She tore through drawers and shelves, desperate to unearth that tortoiseshell hairpin. But despite her frantic search, she couldn’t find it. “Where did he stash it? Where is it hidden?”
The longer she couldn’t find it, the more her frustration surged, leaving the room in chaos.
“What are you doing, Linda?”
Nyla’s voice cut through the mess—she’d slipped in unnoticed, gaping at Linda in disbelief.
“Nyla?” Linda faltered, her eyes darting nervously. “I’m looking for something.”
“In Ernest’s room, looking for your things?” Nyla’s expression darkened, her gaze sharp and skeptical.
Linda stammered, grasping for words.noveldrama
“What’s gotten into you?” Nyla’s patience with Linda had worn thin lately—she found her increasingly aggravating. “Where’s Eric? He went to Storia to pick you up. Why did you come back alone?”
“He…”
“Don’t feed me that business trip nonsense again!” Nyla snapped, locking eyes with her. “Something’s fishy. You and Ernest have been acting mysteriously lately. Whenever one of you is here, the other’s gone. What’s going on? Spill it!”
Nyla wasn’t someone to trifle with.
