Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 929

Chapter 929:

The only child of her parents, she’d taken the reins of the Flynn family as its heir. Her husband had joined the family through marriage, and after her son…

daughter-in-law’s tragic accident, Nyla had singlehandedly propped up the dynasty to its current heights.

Though age had sidelined her from business, she never let family matters slide.

Under Nyla’s piercing stare, Linda squirmed, guilt gnawing at her.

“Did something happen to Eric?” Nyla’s temper flared. “Not talking? Fine. You said he was on a trip—call him. Now!”

Linda froze. What could she do?

“Call him! Why the delay?” Nyla’s voice sharpened with a sneer. “Still hiding the truth? If something’s happened to Eric, can you handle the full responsibility? Are you ready for that?”

“I’ll tell you!” Linda caved, left with no escape. She dropped her gaze, avoiding Nyla’s eyes, and murmured, “Eric… he’s injured and now… unconscious…”

She spilled the whole story.

Nyla’s pulse spiked at the words, a cold shiver racing up her spine. She squeezed her eyes shut, clutching the back of her neck.

“Nyla!” Linda yelped, panicked, rushing to steady her. “Ernest and I didn’t tell you because we feared you couldn’t take it! Where’s your medicine?”

She rifled through Nyla’s pockets, found the emergency pills, and shook out two, pressing them to her lips. “Take them, please!”

Nyla steadied herself and swallowed the pills.

“Are you okay?” Linda’s voice trembled with worry. If something happened to Nyla, how would she face Ernest?

Fortunately, Nyla pulled through.

Linda eased her onto the sofa, and after a beat, Nyla’s eyes fluttered open, her color improving slightly.

“I’m fine,” Nyla said, brushing it off with a wave. “I’m not dying yet. It’s not my time to go!”

She rose, leaning on Linda’s arm. “Let’s go.”

Linda blinked, confused. “Go where?”

Nyla shot her a look that screamed obvious. “Where else?”

At Millland Road, the Cayenne rolled up outside Hadley’s apartment. Hadley helped Elissa out. “Wait here a second, Elissa. I need a word with Ernest.”

“Okay,” Elissa nodded, suspecting it was about Eric’s condition. “Take your time.”noveldrama

Hadley circled back to the car, tapping on the window.

It slid down, and Ernest met her gaze wordlessly.

“Ernest, about Eric…” Hadley began.

“Hadley!”

Her sentence was cut short when someone called out from ahead. Looking up, she saw Linda propping up Nyla, both suddenly appearing before them.

“Nyla?” Hadley’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Grandma,” Ernest said, stepping out of the car, his brow furrowing as he glanced at Linda.

How had Nyla ended up here? Did she know about Eric?

No explanation was needed—Nyla marched straight to Hadley, tears brimming as she seized her hand, her voice thick with emotion. “Hadley, please save Eric!”
