Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 930

Chapter 930:

“Nyla,” Hadley said, her breath growing heavy. “I get that you’re scared, but the doctors are powerless here. How could I possibly help?” If mere words could rouse Eric, Linda’s efforts would’ve worked—Hadley doubted she’d fare any better!

“Please, do it for me,” Nyla pleaded, her cloudy eyes glistening. She clutched Hadley’s hand tighter, tugging at her heartstrings. “I know what went down with you and Eric. It was his mistake—I never took his side or pressured you to go back to him, did I?”

Hadley faltered, giving a small shake of her head.

“I’ll beg on my knees if I have to!” Determination flashed in Nyla’s gaze as she clenched her jaw. “Go see Eric, please!”

Nyla’s legs gave way, nearly bringing her to her knees.

“Nyla!”

“Grandma!”

Shock was evident on Hadley’s face, mirrored by Eric and Linda.

In a swift move, Hadley caught Nyla, tears welling up in her eyes as she pleaded, “Nyla, please, don’t do this! You’ve always been like family to me. I’ll do whatever you want me to.” The thought of Nyla kneeling was unbearable.

“Hadley!” At her limits, Nyla felt compelled to adopt this drastic approach. “Sweetheart, I really appreciate it!”

Hadley turned her attention to Elissa. “I need to help my friend upstairs first. She can’t see well, and navigating alone is tough.”

“Oh?” Nyla looked at Elissa, taking in her gentle features. “She looks like quite an intelligent and polite young lady… Go ahead. I’ll be here waiting.”

“Alright.” Releasing her hold on Nyla, Hadley approached Elissa and took her arm. “Elissa, let’s head up.”

“Alright.” Facing Nyla’s direction, Elissa apologized, “Mrs. Flynn, I’m sorry for this.”

“Not a problem at all.”

Nyla watched them leave, a soft sigh escaping her lips. “Such a polite young woman. What a shame…”noveldrama

Elissa’s youth contrasted starkly with her visual impairment.

Ernest remained quiet, choosing not to comment.

Next to him, Linda’s eyes widened, a realization dawning on her. She had sensed something unusual about Elissa earlier.

Was it her vision? She was blind?

An inward smirk crossed Linda’s face.

Has Ernest completely lost his mind? Could he really be falling for a blind woman? Was it merely because she was Locke’s mother?

Hadley escorted Elissa into the elevator.

“Hadley.” Seizing the moment, Elissa touched Hadley’s hand gently.

“I’ll ask Melba to help me pack later. I need to go back to the sanatorium.”

“Why?” Hadley looked concerned. “Is it because you’re not happy here with me? Or do you feel like you’re too much of a burden?”

“You’re reading too much into it.” Elissa offered a soft smile. “Melba needs to look after Joy, and you’re busy with the hospital… I consider you a dear friend, and I don’t want to impose during such a hectic time.” She was making a logical decision.

“Don’t worry. Laney, my caretaker, is wonderful. I’ve actually missed her over the past few days.”
