Chapter 252
Chapter 252:
“I don’t give a damn what you like,” Alex barked. “If you’ve hurt her—”
“Relax,” Nathan cut in. “She’s alive… for now.”
I thought I was going to vomit.
Alex’s body went rigid beside me, every muscle wound tight, on the verge of snapping. “What do you want?”
Silence.
Then Nathan’s voice dropped again, darker. “A little birdie told me Raina’s back home.”
My blood went icy.
I could feel Alex’s gaze on me, but I couldn’t look away.
Nathan laughed again, as if he could hear my fear through the phone. “Now, that’s interesting, isn’t it? You just couldn’t stay away, could you, Raina?”
I swallowed hard, my entire body frozen in place.
Nathan hummed. “Here’s how this is going to work. I want her. And only when I get her will I let Faith go.”
The air in the room grew suffocating.noveldrama
“No,” Alex said immediately. His voice was crisp, unyielding. “That’s not happening.”
Nathan laughed again, a slow, mocking sound. “Oh, come on. Don’t act surprised. You knew this was coming.”
My fingers curled into my palms, my nails digging into my skin.
“You know what to do,” Nathan said smoothly. “Don’t keep me waiting.”
Then, the line went dead.
A hollow silence filled the room. I couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe.
Nathan wanted me.

Faith had been kidnapped because of me.
The weight of that knowledge hit me like a ton of bricks, stealing the breath from my lungs. My vision dimmed at the edges, and the thump of my heart echoed in my eardrums.
Alex spun around, his jaw clenched so tightly I was sure he was about to crack his teeth. “No,” he hissed, taking a step forward. “You’re not doing that. Don’t even think about it.”
I didn’t say a word.
Because I was already thinking about it.
Nathan wasn’t bluffing. He had Faith. And if I didn’t act, she could—
I couldn’t let that happen.
Alex muttered a curse. “Raina—”
I whipped around, my legs moving before I could even register what I was doing. I rushed down the hall to my room, my steps quick, my breathing shallow.
“Raina, stop!” Alex called from behind me, but I didn’t look back. As soon as I got in, I slammed the door behind me, locking it.
My heart pounded like a wild drum as I leaned back against the wood, my palms trembling. It was either me or Faith.
I closed my eyes, gasping under the weight of this choice.
I didn’t want to fall into Nathan’s hands.
