Chapter 267
Chapter 267:
Nathan’s jaw ticked, his eyes narrowing as if he could hear my thoughts. “You know what I don’t get?” he asked, his voice suddenly lower, dangerous. “Why doesn’t she want me anymore?”
I tensed.
“We were fine for a while,” he went on, moving closer, his face expressionless. “Great, even. She was mine. And then, suddenly, she wasn’t. Why?” His hands flexed into fists by his thighs, his jaw tightening. “What changed?”
I didn’t say a word.
Nathan didn’t know.
He didn’t know that we were onto him. That we knew what he was planning. That we knew he had been collaborating with Adelaide.noveldrama
What I didn’t realize, however, was that he’d been working with Eliza, too. Well, not until the moment he opened his stupid mouth and said it himself.
“None of this should’ve gone this way,” he muttered, almost to himself. “I had to get rid of Adelaide, and then, of course, I had to help Eliza get into the Grahams.”
My stomach dropped. Oh my God. It all clicked. It made too much sense.
Nathan went on, still trapped in his thoughts, pacing back and forth across the room as if working something out. “And I still don’t know how Dominic got the hotel footage,” he muttered, his jaw tightening. “I made sure it was gone. So how the fuck did he get it?”
A sharp, twisting guilt stabbed through me. Dom had always been innocent. And I—God, I had been ready to walk away from him. I had wanted a divorce.
I barely had time to process that when the door opened again. And Eliza walked in.
RAINA
Vanessa looked at me like I had lost my mind. Her eyes were wide, disbelief written all over her face as she shook her head, pacing up and down the room as if she were trying to process what I had just said. She flung her hands to her temples, fingers digging into her skin as though physically keeping herself from screaming.
Then she stopped and turned to me, absolutely exploding.

“Are you insane?” she demanded, her voice sharp, raw with frustration. I clenched my jaw, already tired of hearing that question. Everyone kept treating me like I was reckless, like I wasn’t thinking straight, but that wasn’t true. I was the only one thinking clearly.
“Why does everyone keep asking me that?” I shot back, crossing my arms over my chest. “This is about Faith. She’s out there, and from where I’m standing, I’m the only one actually doing something about it.”
Vanessa blew out an angry breath, her face a mask of anger and fear. “And if you get hurt?” she exclaimed. “What then? How the hell is Alex supposed to forgive me?”
Panic gripped me before I could even think, my heart slamming against my ribs. I lunged forward, pressing my hand over her mouth with a firm touch, my pulse roaring in my ears. “Shh,” I hissed. “Do you want them to hear?”
Her eyes widened with alarm, but after a second, she nodded. I hesitated before pulling my hand away, watching her closely.
“I’m not asking you to come with me,” I said, my voice low but urgent. “I just need you to help me get out of here. That’s it.”
Vanessa still looked like she wanted to shake some sense into me, her jaw tight, shoulders tense.
Then, just as I expected, she shook her head furiously. “No. No way. Alex would kill me.”
I didn’t even hesitate. I dropped to my knees, not caring how pathetic that made me look.
