Rejected the alpha mate 242
Chapter 242
Chapter 242
Bradley POV
Tamara briefed me about the outcome of the cooking competition. I hated the first day I saw Daisy misbehaving with Summer. Had Summer been my Luna, I would have killed her already. But I waited for things to be normal for Summer. However, what Daisy did to remove her from the contest was worse than anything I had imagined. She tried to frame my mate. And for that she was going to pay. Mother had punished Daisy and her friends by imprisoning them for three months, but I was going to make sure that they never saw the light of the day.
I called Summer and asked her if she was okay after the incident because I was worried about her mental health. She was like a fragile butterfly amongst the wolves. And yet, she proved her tenacity. Goddess, I loved her madly.
I had come to the human town to take down the last business that Morelli owned. After this, he was going to stay in prison for the rest of his life, his empire would be completely shattered, and Laura could go to hell. At the same time, I knew I had to be careful. Tammy had said that Laura had recovered mostly and was planning to return to the contest to take her place.
In the human town, I had been running in circles for days. Morelli was involved in manipulating real estate prices. Beta Tarian had gathered enough information about his shady deals. He had a bunch of my pack werewolves working over it for the past few days.
It seemed Morelli’s hands were everywhere, even in shady real estate dealings. He wasn’t just making money off properties–he was manipulating, extorting, and using fear to make sure no one crossed him.
And today, Tarian and I were going to put an end to it.
The sun was setting over the human town as we pulled up to the area we were investigating. It was Morelli’s office where he carried out his real estate dealings, situated at the south of the town where the neighborhood was sparse.
The air smelled of fresh paint and money, the scent of renovations, and people trying to build their futures. But I knew this was the front Morelli wanted to put up. Behind the glossy surfaces, corruption ran deep.
We had a plan–pose as potential investors interested in buying up the property. Tarian was going to handle most of the talking, his human contacts making him the perfect negotiator. I was here to stay quiet, observe, and make sure we got the documents we needed to nail Morelli for his crimes. I’d known business dealings with him in the past to know the kind of underhanded tactics he used.
As I entered the office with Tarian, I noticed how agents that Morelli had deployed for real estate dealings were nothing more than gangsters. They weren’t vetted agents by the government.
“Hello!” said one of the salesmen. “How can I help you?” he asked, with a large grin with stars in his eyes.
Tarian grinned at him with equal enthusiasm. “We were looking for a house on your property, New heights.”
“Oh! Then you’ve come at the right time. Only a few apartments are left.”
In the next half an hour, the salesman went on and on about the benefits of it. “Would you like to take a tour?” he asked, his eyes gleaming when he saw
how interested we were.
“Of course!” I replied. “We are looking to invest a large amount, but only if you have good plans for us.”
He looked at his calendar, and said, “I can give you the tour tomorrow at 10AM. Does that work?”
“Yes,” I said with a polite smile. It worked perfectly for us.
Next day at 10AM, Tarian leaned against the car, staring at the abandoned property, New Heights, in front of us, the one that had recently been bought under suspicious circumstances. “This is it. Morelli’s new project. If we find what we’re looking for here, we can tie him to something bigger.”
I nodded, keeping my voice low, “Let’s get in, get the info, and get out. I don’t want to stay here longer than we need to.”
As we approached the entrance of the complex, the air grew thick with tension. There was too much on the line.
Chapter 242
Inside the complex, we were greeted by the salesman who introduced himself as the project manager. His smile was tight, and his hands on tighter. “You’re here about the investment opportunity,” he said, sounding almost too eager. “Houston said that you would be comings
“Yeah,” Tarian said smoothly. “We’re interested in seeing the apartments and other plans and what kind of ROI you’re offering. The market is compeÊNG 2 right now.”
Tarian was doing what he did best–sounding professional and disarming, but I could see the tension in the manager’s posture. He was on edge, and 1 didn’t have to guess why. My instincts said that he guessed we weren’t really here to invest. Did he know that we were here to take this all down?
We moved through the building, my eyes scanning every inch of the place. I noticed the decaying pipes, the cracks in the walls, the missing tiles. This place was a mess. It was clear Morelli wasn’t going to spend the money to make it livable. He was just going to flip it for profit and leave the mess behind for someone else to deal with.
Tarian and I exchanged a glance, and I could tell he was getting what we needed. The manager kept leading us through rooms and hallways, offering us just enough information to keep up the façade. As we walked through another hallway, Tarian asked the manager, “How many people have bought it?”
The manager hesitated for just a second too long before answering. “Many have. The few left are… um, waiting for the renovations to be completed.
“Right,” Tarian said, his eyes narrowing. “And I take it all of them are eager to move in?”
The manager’s eyes darted nervously. “Yes, that’s why you should buy it fast.”
“Buy it?” I said, my voice hardening. “Let’s be clear, how many of these owners are being forced to quit with no option to leave? How many of them are being pushed around to make your project look legit?”noveldrama
The manager’s face turned pale.
What do you think?
