Matthew didn’t say anything. He just turned his head towards her and looked at her.

Jessica barely smiled and pretended to be relaxed, “Trust me, Dolores is very strong and will be fine. When she gave birth to Andrew and Amanda, who were twins, she managed to do it successfully without going through a C-section. Mother and children ended up safe and sound. The doctor said, “As I said, the mother’s condition is still in danger and she needs professional care. The baby has been sent to the neonatal unit for treatment because it has been in the mother’s womb too long. I’m afraid you can’t see them now.”

Matthew clenched his fist tightly until the veins on the back of his hand bulged. He tried to stifle his pounding heartbeat, “Is my baby still alive?” the doctor answered yes.

The doctor answered yes, “After you signed the form, your wife was still slightly conscious. She understood your intention, but still asked us to rescue the baby. Although the process was dangerous, the baby was still breathing fortunately. When the baby was born, he was very pale. However, the baby was fully developed after the check-up. Nowadays, the medical facilities are well equipped, so it shouldn’t take long for him to recover after the treatment.”

The doctor shook her hand, “It’s our duty.”

Jessica stayed as far away as possible, as she was afraid of hearing bad news. Now, she covered her lips and smiled as her eyes still filled with tears at the news.

The tears rolled as she smiled.

After learning that both the adult and the baby were safe and well, she just dared to approach. She immediately expressed her gratitude to the doctor.

Then, he told Matthew to clean himself up, “Be clean and tidy before you see Dolores. Leave the rest for me.”

Matthew responded “yes” graciously.

Jessica asked Jeffery’s family to rest in Dolores’ room. Noah said,

“We’d better go back now. We’ll be back tomorrow.”

They wouldn’t be able to see Dolores even if they waited here today.

Today was Noah’s wedding and the whole family had been out for a few hours already. Surely, they had to go back and explain the scenario. So Jessica didn’t ask them to stay.

She went back into the living room and saw Jayden bringing two children.
